Austin Peay State University Top Questions

At the time that I attended APSU, there were a lot of non-traditional students on campus., partly because of our close proximity to Fort Campbell. Being set in a military town, you have the opportunity to meet a lot of interesting people from places all around the world.

It was a small school, but not too small.

My school is small and very personal. Even though we have over 10,000 enrolled, it still feels small. Campus is very welcoming and friendly. The president and provost are both very friendly and are known campus-wide. This campus is small enough to make you feel warm and cozy, but big enough for you to enjoy a new experience. Austin Peay has incorporated many new programs and only continues to do so. I am so glad that I chose this school, I was nervous at first, but once I got here, I knew Austin Peay was meant for me!

Austin Peay is so diffrent from any other school. There are a million things that make my college unique BUT I love the cheer. Its so original and unique!!! There is no other college that can scream "Lets go peay!!" at a football game and get away with it. Let's go Peay!!!

The thing that is really unique about my school is the mascot. We are the Governors, and I just think that that is one of the neatest mascots ever. Our mascot is based on one of the late governors, Governor Austin Peay, which is who our school is named after.

Austin Peay is a state school, but it is a smaller school where you are more than just a number. AP has many resources available like the writing lab, tutoring sessions for every subject, library, volunteer note takers, etc., that are desgined to truly help each student not just pass his or her class but retain the information as well and be successful.

Austin Peay State University is unique in many ways. The main way is that APSU is such a wonderful size. The campus is large enough to make students happy, and yet not large enough to make walking to class confusing or difficult. Also the people at APSU are great. Students help eachother all the time and it is really easy to meet new friends. The faculty is also very nice. Anytime you have a question or a problem they are there to help you. Figuring out your classes is easy because advising is always easy to find.

Austin Peay State University has a everything you look for in a college. Although it may not be one of the biggest in Middle Tn, it is growing very much in the last couple of years! I have come to this school for 2 years and I have made wonderful friends. I like where I work and I am confident that I will get a job right out of school and become very successful. (I'm a Business-Finance major).

We have a very strong theater department, with many very talented students, which is regarded as one of the top theater departments in the state. We also have many other educational departments on campus, that have many professors who are experts in their field, who still have connections. This in turn gives students to the opportunity to learn with hands on experience, or atleast from people who truly know and understand what they are talking about. APSU also is very student focused in the extra-curricular activities, which provides excellent opportunities to get involved and meet new people.
