Education was average. If anything, it was easier than high school. The professors were hit or miss on difficulty as some required more work than others for the same class. If attendance didn't count for a grade, I would have skipped all my lectures as it was going over the readings most of the time. Although some material was only taught in-person which I found annoying. Nothing happens at Ave since it is located in the middle of nowhere. There was black mold in Goretti Hall in a three-man dorm during my time. One of the residents in the dorm had mold in his lungs and was sent to the ER. I was in Sebastian Hall, which did have problems. There was word going around about the three-man dorms becoming four-man for the upcoming year, which was already cramped with three people. The food there is terrible; rubber meat slathered in weird sauce, hit or miss pizza. The only food worth eating is omelets for breakfast and deli wraps/sandwiches/quesadillas for lunch/dinner. Town's food is overpriced and mid.
Ave Maria is full of thriving, faith-filled individuals whose love of life emanates into their actions and words. They always pass you with a smile and say hello or ask how your day is going, sometimes complete strangers! And it's amazing how many meaningful discussions happen within seconds of a conversations- everyone is extremely reasonable and open!
I love Ave Maria University. The culture and atmosphere is amazing. You get to make deeper connection with people through faith, academics, sports and more. You really become a family here. One thing that is tough is the surrounding area does not provide much to do. We still have a lot of fun and it is easy to make fun with your friends, but it might require a 40 minute drive to naples. I am on the soccer team and love it. The team culture is great too!
Ave Maria University is best described as a unique and selfless environment that allows you to focus and complete your studies with many different amenities available. Although this may sound like any other University, this amazing school has so many diverse volunteer opportunities and mission trips that allows everyone in the community to come together and make a difference! Just hearing about everyone’s life-changing experiences motivated me to join the movement. Aside from being apart of the busy Gyrenes' volleyball team, I tried to help as much as I could in my free time. This mostly consisted of organizing rather than participating but it felt good to work together with the Ave community and help in any way possible. This astounding University is overlooked because of its location but is completely well rounded and consists of many obliging resources and professors who go out of their way to help. All of my professors assist me academically but most of all, they take the role as a mentor for many student companions and myself. My biology lab teacher, Professor Feger, has a special place in my heart because he attentively listened to my struggles and helped me come up with ways to conquer them. This support, not only from my family but also from the Ave community, pushes me to be the best that I can be, which is a great feeling to have. This journey has ultimately brought me closer to God and moves me to help others in any way possible.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Ave Maria University is 39%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
Learn from your mistakes and don't be afraid to change into the person you want to be. There are so many things out there left to experience and these years go by so fast, make the most out of each and every moment. Take time to look back on who you are now, and know you will be nothing like that person after the year is done.
That the next town over is about 40 minutes away.
It's small, everyone knows everyone and you don't get lost in the crowd.
I feel that the school has a very comfortable familiarity while maintaining one of the best educations. Other schools provide smaller classrooms with closer relationships between students and teachers without the guarantee of a supreme education, and vice versa. At Ave Maria, the classes are smaller but have such great quality. I love the relationships I have with everyone and I love the fact that I can maintain them without the expense of my education.
My classmates are people who live life to the fullest.
Ave Maria is best known for its Cathoic and friendly cominuty. There is never a shy person there because everyone id friends with everyone. Not all of the school is Catholic but that does not matter, everyone gets along with everyone. The community and town is small and very family friendly. Ave is also known for its academics with professors coming from a variety of ivy league schools. I am proud to say that I attend Ave Maria University because it is a place where true friends are made and the start of a new and fulfilling life.
How kind and genuine all of the people on campus truly are. This does not stop at the students, but continues to the staff as well. It is a close and accepting comunity with a possitive outlook on life.
There is nothing more frustrating than asking a person a question and getting handed a peice of paper saying "follow these steps". If I understood the steps I wouldn't be asking the questions!
My school is a meeting place for those who dream of a brighter tomorrow.
I would say the distance to other cities or towns. It is a good drive to go to a Wal-mart or a Target. Even though it is far it is so we can focus on or education.
One that is academically focused and is able to balance their social life. I would also say that it would be good if they had a good spiritual life considering its a catholic university. Although you don't need to be catholic to attend this university it would just help you to fit in quicker.
Someone who doesn't like rules and regulations and has low tolerance of extremely different personalities.
