The core curriculum for business is great for students who want to understand how a business runs. The liberal arts at Babson are weak because the professors that teach the courses do not understand the mindset a business student comes in with when taking a liberal arts class. If liberal arts were geared towards topics that are relevant to business, the classes would be more enjoyable for students. The food is okay. Watch out because the freshman 15 is real. Housing depends on the dorm and the people in your hall. In general, Mattos is the dorm you want to avoid. It's old. Otherwise, the other dorms are okay, but your experience in the dorm depends on who ends up dorming next to you. I know people in nice dorms with nice amenities who would never go back because the people who lived in their hall freshman year were insane and they have bad memories of their hall. As in, people breaking TVs, walls, and celings for no reason, leaving food on the ground for a caretaker to pick up, never flushing toilets, fighting, and really loud noises at night. In terms of people, one thing you'll start to notice is that there are lots of students, especially men, here with narcissistic personalities. They're people who you generally wouldn't notice, who will be polite and quiet in front of your face. But let's say you speak to them and say something they disagree with or don't like, as soon as they're alone or with similarly minded narcissistic friends, they'll start saying things they would be too scared to say to your face. Obviously, not everyone is a narcissist or toxic, but so many women as well as men at this college have witnessed two faced behavior among a large segment of the student population. These people have built up some sort of resentment over how people treat them and reflect it onto others. I've seen a student go to the registrar upset about electives abroad being cancelled due to coronavirus because they would be missing credits on their transcript. It's completely understandable why the student would be upset, because they paid to take an elective abroad through Babson, but it wouldn't be safe or practical to go abroad during coronavirus. The admin assistant said the college was working on a strategy to address the issue of missing credits for all the students who were doing electives abroad and that they would be in contact to let them know how to proceed. When the admin assistant told him this he thanked them and left. After speaking to the admin assistant about my own personal matters , I left and saw the same student in the hallway on a phone call saying that the admin assistant didn't realize he was the person paying her a salary after she was stupid enough to get a history degree. He also said the college only cared about stealing his money and using it to pay more people like her who went off to get similar degrees. From what I witnessed, there was no indication that the admin assistant informed him of her education. This is a calmer example of the type of personality you will find at Babson. You will see men make up lies about women in their hall, social group, etc. spreading lies to their friends about them because the woman has rejected them or called them out on being rude/disrespectful. Obviously, a lot of women at Babson do this too, but there's a noticeable difference in the proportion of men doing this in comparison to women. Students know these people have toxic personalities and they generally don't pay them attention, but this is something so prominent at Babson that you need a heads up about it. Extracurriculars at Babson are mostly a joke except for a few clubs. The majority of clubs have between 1 and 3 events during the semester. Babson is diverse on the outside but not at all diverse when you start immersing yourself in campus life. Some international students are cliquey, others are not. A lot of them are nice people, but there's also a lot of them who think that they have to live like they're in some raunchy American movie from the early 2000s. Then you have athletes. They generally stick to themselves and because of this, you typically won't notice them too much unless you go to their parties. One thing I will say is that team culture is really important to how you will perceive the people on a sports team. I've seen some sports teams with a culture of degrading women and turn a blind eye to potentially dangerous situations involving sex. Even people on the team who don't agree with this aspect of the culture will follow it. When I see things like this, my friends, myself, and other people try to diffuse the situation. Other sports teams have cultures that are completely against that kind of stuff and if they see someone who's uncomfortable or unconscious, they're the first people to diffuse these situations. They'll ask if everyone's okay and they'll make sure that if someone's uncomfortable they get the support they need. Then there are the fraternities and sororities. I don't really hang around that scene much, so I don't have much commentary about it. If you want to have a social life outside of campus, you need a car. Babson is not close to Boston. People say it's 30 minutes away, and that's true if there's no traffic, you live in a town close to Boston, and/or the weather's dry. But if you're looking to socialize in Boston, it's usually at night when your friends from other colleges are done with classes and the fun clubs/restaurants and parties start. More realistically, Boston can be anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half away depending on how bad the weather and the traffic is. I will say it's rare for it to take more than 45 minutes to get to Boston, but I have spent and know people who have been in such bad traffic that it's taken them an hour and a half.

It is a great college that pushes you to be your better self and truly inspires you to always achieve more. The students and faculty there are vibrant and have a lot of experience. As it is a diverse school with people from many different backgrounds there is a lot of opportunities to grow by learning about these people.

Okay so Babson is only good for its academics and like extra alumni things they do. Other than that it is a bunch of narcissistic students overpaying for horrible housing, dining, and student life. they spent 2 MILLLL on the globe.... that could have gone to other things. they for sure spent way to much on the library-- which as little to no study space. the food is absolutely horrible and we pay so much for it. 75 GRAND a year to go to school here is absolutely ridiculous. If you are not on a sports team you practically cannot have a social life on weekends. all babson cares about is profit for themselves, $$$$, we are all pawns or assets in a much larger game. there is only 2 faculty members here that I really do trust and who I know want me to succeed. Overall this school sucks-- except their academics. I feel so smart and have learned so so much. Which I am extremely grateful for.

  3. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

    Do not ever expect opportunities to fall into your lap. Finding the right college is an opportunity, but the most important part takes place once you arrive on campus. As a new student, work hard to make every unfamiliar face one you can recognize as an acquaintance, dormmate, teammate, classmate, or peer. Make connections-- networking is one of the most important parts of college. Meet business people, ask for business cards, give out your email, follow up with people whose company you enjoyed. Take some time out of the day to have lunch with your professor. Approach the professors and faculty who work in the obscure offices-- gems of knowledge come from those people. Do something that benefits others, not just yourself. Serve the community- do not expect it to just serve you. Take all of these opportunities, but at the same time, make your own! Start a club, send an email to the entire undergraduate class, start a club sports team, coordinate service projects with local area schools, apply for a program that you have been told you will not get into. Take risks, make friends, and remember college is what you make it, but essentially its an OPPORTUNITY.

    the best thing is no friday classes, i'd change the library times, its too small, people either react like wow good for you or oh where's that? i spend most of my time in reynolds, my dorm or pub, what college town? administration is awesome!, controversy is that the sox are better, there is starting to be a little school price, its unusual that there are no houses and no one parties, ill always remember going here

    As I mentioned previously, Babson only offers one major, which is business, and it is heavily concentrated on entrepreneurship. Most of the students here already had some kind of business background before they came in; as a result, entrepreneurship became the common language among the students here at Babson. Although the workload here is relatively heavy compares to the other universities, but every student here knows how to handle the workload, at the same time start their side business using the resources Babson has to provide.

    You will leave Babson with an incredible wealth of knowledge regarding entrepreneurship. Myself and two of my classmates started an entrepreneur consulting firm within 2 years of graduation, and we are currently successful at what we do, and are able to provide invaluable tips and services that help our clients to receive VC funding. Most of what you learn at Babson will be directly applicable to your later career, provided that you work in an entrepreneurship-related field.

  14. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

    Stereotype: rich kids, all-work and no-fun, international, and guys are jerks Truth: it's true that most Babson students are wealthy, mostly because they are the children of business execs. And yes, on campus a lot of us women can have a hard time finding a genuine guy to date -- a lot of them fall into the stereotype where they just try to impress women with their money. HOWEVER, while Babson students work very hard, we also party hard. Babson has parties every Thursday and Saturday night across campus, and we business students know how to let loose.

    I would have liked to know of the different scholarship opportunites that Babson college offers. When I arrived and enrolled at Babson College fulltime, my peers were speaking of the different types of scholarships that were awarded to them. Of these scholarships was the Diversity Scholarship. The online application process is also very crucial in determining the financial aid package that is given to students. Not too many students give much attention to online applications because they are a hassle, but this is very important.

    Babson, ranked #1 in entrepreneurship for over two decades, is for students who want to become innovators in the business field. The curriclum is built around frequent group assignments across a wide array of topics to provide students with a well rounded business education. Babson students have a wide array of interests and career goals that share a common theme of constant innovation and improvement. Many students go on to work on start up ventures while others take their entreprenrurial thought process to Wall Street and the boardroom. Prospective students should be hardworking, comfortable with group work and self-starters.

  20. I don't drink. Will it be hard for me to go to parties?

    I wasn't into drinking my freshman year, but I still found it easy to find friends who were like-minded. There are events on weekends like arts performances, games, movies, or sports events, none of which involve alcohol. Most weekend activities do involve alcohol, and it's rare to find Babson students who don't drink. However, you can still have fun.

  21. Why did you decide to go to this school?

    Honestly, the biggest reason was that I wanted to be near Boston (coming from Texas) and they gave a perfect financial aid package. Babson pledges to match 92{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of demonstrated financial need on average, something to think about. If you're concerned about Babson's price, don't be.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
