If you want to talk to people at home every day, and they want to talk to you, feel free to call all the time. However, I would recommend staying out of touch for the first couple weeks on campus, so you can concentrate on having fun and getting adjusted instead of just missing home the whole time.
It really all depends on how close you are with your family and if you are more depend on your parents or if you are independent. Some students have no problem talking to their parents every day, I would say that as the year goes on, the phone calls will become a little less. It's okay to branch out and become independent from your parents, afterall, college is the time in your life when you become the person that you are meant to be, so have fun with it, and call them when it feels natural to!
