Liberal hippie, someone looking to explore who they are. Someone who actually goes to school to learn instead of party.

Bard attracts kids from cities like New York or LA who want to shed their "rich" image. Everyone at bard pretends to be poor but in reality they are pretty much all upper middle class white kids. The bard student is socially consciouss as long as it doesn't interfere with their weekend drinking and smoking weed. Bard students are extremely intelligent which is probably why drinking isn't seen as a big problem on campus, because everyone does well academically. Bardians are artisits and fashionistas. Bardians care about what they look like, despite what they would have you believe.
Bard is for sutdents who are willing to go further than simply the expected academically, immerse themselves in their studies, and "think outside the box." Students who thrive at Bard are those who are involved with their course load, build relationships with professors, but still balance their social life outside of class. I would say for someone who works hard and plays hard - but is willing to have an intellectual conversation while doing both. Also, a student who has respect for the environment, and would enjoy going to school on a beautiful rural campus would love it here!
Anyone who likes meeting new people from around the world, and loves to learn more about what they are being taught.
Students who have a wide variety of interests and want to figure out a way to pull them all together. Students who are more interested in the learning than the grade.
