Before coming to this school I wish I would have known the bad of it. The racial issues at Bard are not rare, alot of the people don't even know that tey are saying racist or discriminatory things. I wish I wouldn't have expected that Bard would have been everything I looked for and wanted in a college. I wish that someone would have told me that if you don't fit a certain personality, you will not fit in with the crowd here.
I wish that I had had a better understanding of the social environment on campus, and the level of activism in particular. Bard at least used to have a reputation for being an activist campus, and that was kind of what I was expecting when I enrolled. In some ways, it is, and many students are ipart of activism or student groups, and are very involved and enthusiastic. But many students are more apathetic or intellectually (to the exclusion of practically) focused than I had thought, and at least knowing that would have made the discovery less disappointing.
I wish i had known how important education was. I should have focused more in school as a freshman but instead i got distracted by living alone for the first time.
I wish I had known that it's ok not to know what you want to study right off the bat.
That I could design my college experience to be anything I wanted it to be at Bard.
