Bard College Top Questions

What's unique about your campus?

Eden

The best thing about my school is the depth of the classroom experience. Anything you could want to learn about is offered in a class, and the professors are highly knowledgable and dedicated to my learning.

Kouki

The professors are very open to helping students out, as long as the students are willing to put in the appropriate amount of time and effort in return.

Bard was a very accepting place that welcomed and nurtured a lot of different interests, which kept it stimulating intellectually and socially. The classrooms were generally engaging and professors often encouraged students to pursue their interests within a subject, and the courses themselves focused on intriguing subjects. The professors and student body were also generally accepting of identity and interests, and though there were apathetic, uninvolved students, many students also easily started clubs or sponsored events around their interests, so that there was always something to do or learn.

The teachers are amazing. I have not yet had one bad teacher. They are helpful and will meet with you at such short notice for just about anything. They love their job and are passionate about teaching. And because of this there is an energy in the classroom that would not normally be there. The classes are also very small so you get all of the attention you need, you dont get lost in the crowd.

Mary

Bard is a unique place, and it is not for everyone. I love Bard because of the extremely interesting and engaged students, intellectual environment, and the outstanding professors.

Samantha

not competive, beatuiful campus

Katharine

The people: the students, staff and faculty. The community at large. The classes and the classroom environment.

Allison

We don't have any lecture classes (besides art history). Everything is disucssion based. We are encouraged to do well academically not just by our professors but also by our peers. There is a strong emphasis on learning and being intelligent. Bardians care about their grades as well as learning. Bard has a weird subculture of silent rebellion against the hipsters which is wonderful. It is not uncommon to have a student dressed as a gorilla to throw an orange at you. Bard encourages artistic thought. Bardians aren't too party loving but they aren't boring nerds either.

Jacqueline

The professors, because they are very enthusiastic, interesting, and helpful.

Natalia

I think the best thing about my school is the tight-knit campus. The community becomes quite familiar and it is a good academic environment
