The environment is so lovely. You’re literally in the middle of the forest, and it is so calming and beautiful. The women professors are awesome and understanding. They really know their stuff. The housing is pretty…but sucks. The school is bankrupt and is cutting down the dorm money for meals for finals week down to $10 max per person. Also, since the school has no money, some programs are going to be shut down, but they haven’t said which or when. The school was said to be spectacular in its glory days (pre-COV*D), but it’s gone down since then. Financial aid will cheat you out of your money. Read everything CAREFULLY. They slip in stuff you don’t need that you will end up paying for like those warnings in medication commercials. Every meal there is about $20 not including drinks. If they say they’ll reimburse you for a study abroad trip, they will not (because there is no money) & it’s left multiple students having to pay out of pocket with no plans for school to pay them back. There are very nice people here, but like everywhere, you do have to watch your back around certain staff. Especially the ones that say they have your back. They don’t. They do not organize the chem/herbal labs safely which led to a lab explosion leaving students nauseous & passing out on the floors and in their cars. Every school has their downside. It’s just that this school has reportedly not received an audit in years. Students have been fighting to get it audited but the school just hasn’t made it happen. Hopefully things will start to improve once school starts listening to the students complaints because the school really does have great potential. It just hasn’t shown it.

I believe that Bastyr University is the best school to go to if you just want to learn and be close to the professors. It is not a big university so you are able to connect with others easily. I have felt like I got the best education possible and I am incredibly happy.

I am a new student at Bastyr University starting this fall. So far in my conversations with recent alumni, I've heard that the classroom sizes are perfect for learning and participation. The faculty and advisors made my application process so easy. They were very responsive to emails and helped me figure out what materials I needed in order to apply. I hear the food is amazing and that they offer options for different dietary restrictions.

Bastyr University is a beautiful campus nestled up in the trees of St. Edward State Park in Kenmore, WA. Although small, the school sets high standards for its students, and educates the future leaders of the healthcare professions. I love the campus, the staff, and the opportunities.
