People, both students and staff, are the best thing about my school. Many of my instructors inspired me even though I began their class thinking it was nothing but a prerequisite I needed to get out of the way. In those classes I have met a lot of great people from all over the world. Together we worked hard together on team projects. It was a great experience. In the past few years I have met so many people and made so many friends. When I look back and think about school, it's often about the people I met.
The best thing about Bellevue College (previously community college) is that all of the classrooms are small and personal. You really get to know the other people in the school while learning basic and/or advanced subjects. Large group projects and individual work all collaborate together to give the small classroom its appeal.
I enjoy the professors. I have found in my experience that the professors are very helpful and make the lectures interesting and informative.
The best thing that I consider about my school is the staff and administration. They place the students at the center of everything they do. I can honestly say that every single class I have taken there, they support and honor the student's efforts and innovation. For example, they aniticpate the changing demands of the economy and are working on creating new programs that offer bachelors degrees for they believe that it is their responsibility to the students and to embrace the belief that widespread access to excellent education is the cornerstone of a democratic society.
The students and faculty are very nice and helpful. You never really feel out of place, even if you are really shy. Feeling comfortable in the environment you are, especially for school, is really important to me. If you have a question, they try to answer it and do not give you the cold shoulder.
There is so much diversity. You walk through campus and see people of all different races from all different countries. It's awesome to see that we can all get along together even though we are all so different.
I am enrolled in the distance education program at Bellevue College. So far, this program has done an amazing job at helping me do what it takes to further my education. I have never even been to the campus and have managed to complete 4 sucessful quarters. The employees really try hard to make sure that the needs of the students are met. I take classes to fit my schedule, am getting a great education, and truely feel like a valued student.
