Belmont University Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Melissa

The cost and the fact that they basically are throwing their students into this financial hole that is nearly impossible to climb out of alone. Also, the negative percentage of students getting good jobs after graduation. Combine the two and its a recipe for disaster.

Ilyana

None.

Morgan

The most frustrating thing about my school is the intollerance towards the gay community. A lot of my friends are gay and it is disheartening to see such intollerance.

Brian

Some of the rules are frustrating. I understand they are in place for a good reason and to help uphold Christian values but sometimes it feels more like a boarding school than a college. I feel as if they are treating me as if I am still a child in comparison to my friends who go to other Universities.

Timothy

I have been sometimes frustrated by a perceived over-relyance on adjunct professors at Belmont. Due to a commitment to small class sizes (which adds great value to a Belmont education), classes taught by tenured professors tend to fill up too quickly for most students to be able to register for them. As a result, several of my classes have been taught by adjuncts, some of whom did not deliver the quality instruction that is the standard at Belmont. There has been more than one class for which I have retained the textbook and conducted my own independent study.

Drew

The cost of tuition is very expensive.

Kyara

The most frustrating thing about Belmont is probably the cost. It is a very expensive place to get an education and tuition goes up a little each year; there's no fixed rate for students already at the school. However, my education is valuable and I do feel that I'm getting a lot out of it for the money we are paying. The opportunities created are definitely worth the money as well. If you can afford Belmont, it's a great place to be.

Martha

How expensive it is.

Nick

The caf isn't open 24 hours a day!

Kristine

People are very driven. If you are not really sure what you want to do, you feel behind at times.

Quinn

The most frustrating thing for me is the lack of school spirit. Belmont built a new arena for basketball less than ten years ago and we're lucky if the place is halfway full. Our team has made the NCAA tournament for 3 consecutive years now, yet nobody seems to support athletics. I wish there was more of a united community in this respect, and this is one area where Belmont's individualistic people do not help to better the overall environment.

John

It only allows you to take one class towards your major for your first semester there...frusting for transfer students.
