Beloit College is a place where students are learn how to be themselves. It is a unique environment , one full of people who strive to get the most they can out of their education and college experience. The small campus size and class sizes are two factors that drew me in. Other schools I was looking at seemed distant and impersonal compared to Beloit.
Relationships you can form with your professors - it's not uncommon for professors to invite their students over to dinner, etc. at their houses.
International focus. Politically liberal.
Beloit is focused on learn for the sake of knowledge, rather than for a high-powered career opportunities.
Beloit is unique in that it is just small enough for you to feel comfortable interacting with anyone on campus and yet it is not so large that you feel as though you don't have a place or the right to do what you would like to do on campus. People are friendly, engaging, open to new experiences, and most importantly, open to sharing those experiences with other students on campus. If you want to do something at Beloit, you can. And if it doesn't already exist, someone will assuredly help you figure out how to do it.
It provides an environemnt extremely conducive to both personal and intellectual growth, a very active and supportive community, and has a good mix of (left-leaning) idealism and realism. Though sometimes I think the balance swings a little too far to the idealism side, looking at some other schools reminds me that it's still pretty good.
Beloit offers a minor in Museum Studies, with two museums on campus, in which students can find work study jobs.
It's a very open and accepting campus. There are so many different and diverse cultures/people here that you can learn and interact with.
