We were the first college to allow african americans and women to attend school with white men. Even after Kentucky was seggregated, Berea College set up the Lincoln Institute to instruct their african american students. The school is completly tuition free and all students are required to work at least 10 hours a week in a campus position.
My school is best known for it's arts and the contribution to the environment. We have on campus solar-panels and an "Eco-villiage" for on-campus heterosexual families. There are plenty of recycling bins around campus and even the food is grown from our campus farm.
