If faculty is all you care about its a decent place. The professors, and the professors alone, are amazing (the small class sizes are wonderful). Literally everything else sucks and I will be glad to leave this hell when it's over. Only like 30{6f65e1278338a62264eed73e2adc5af8e2841420db12ceb4f80b8db22f3260ec} of students are here all 4 years (and graduate) and its not cause they're all transferring /in/ If you want to start out your college career feeling like you're becoming an adult, skip this place, they will treat you like a child all the way past graduation. There's no amenities in the good dorms, the bad dorms are /bad/, and they raise tuition by like 2k every year (calling them fee's, funny how we didn't have them before) without improving anything so its not even worth it monetarily wise. (god forbid you need wifi, you won't get it and if you do, not reliably. especially in the dorms but unfortunately it also extends to other buildings) You will still get charged the $600 book charge every year even if you only have a single, paperback book (worth like $30 max) assigned as your textbook the whole semester you're still going to get the charge. They overwork and underpay their professors while continuing to ask more and more out of them, but that's nothing new for colleges. And administration is constantly rolling out new policies without consulting their faculty or students either, but again, admin apathy is nothing new. You'll be challenged to find an admin that cares more about the college than its shareholders at any college in the country. They hire out a third party caterer for their cafeteria , so you have to follow the dumbest mind numbing rules for toddlers all while spending $3600 to eat there with a meal plan, or around $8.50 for a single dinner. If you try to take a burger out of the cafe without a to-go box they will literally chase you down and tell you have to eat it in the caf so go sit down. Oh and if you have a to-go box (that you pay for) you aren't allowed to stop and chat with the people who are dining in. And Their crazy rules aren't even covid related - they existed before covid. And if you point out how batshit any of the caf rules are you get a shoulder shrug or 'do what you're told' from school faculty. Oh and the food rotates like monthly so you will be seeing the same foods over and over again the longer you are here, and god forbid you want something more nutritious and varied than salad or something fried. I'm a big meat eater but their vegetarian option usually isn't very good either, no vegan options to speak of. And you cant make your own food because again, no amenities in the good dorms past a public microwave (the kitchens in the bad dorms are like death traps though, obscenely old equipment). The only good thing about the caf is when they have themed pizzas Don't waste your money on an expensive sub-par degree from a nothing school, unless your goal is to be in the middle of nowhere and meet (network) with no one. Go join a Trade and you'll make more money at less hassle with a strong work ethic and you wont get strung out by your pockets for a $80,000 piece of (in this economy) worthless paper

Bethany overall does a good job of caring for their students, as class sizes are small and professors are usually pretty good about helping you out. Bethany could use some improvements in their facilities around campus and in their cafeteria food. They are decent for being a small college in the middle of Kansas but could use more food places in the town itself as well as some improvements within the school.

Emma

It is a great school and I feel that the professor do a great job at connecting with the students. When the students need help they can just ask their professor and they will go out of their way to help students who aren't doing so well in the classroom.

Bethany College-Lindsborg FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Bethany College-Lindsborg?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Bethany College-Lindsborg is 63%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

It is important to be yourself, in every matter. Some people may not like you; it happens, and it will likely to continue to happen throughout your life. Remember that you are a strong individual and that you can do anything when you put your mind to it. Values will always ground you and keep you from falling too hard, and when you do fall, get back up and tend to your scrapes. Do your homework; you'll learn so much more when you do than when you don't. Furthermore, you're paying too much to go to school simply to party and skip class. Don't hide behind your book in class. Use your words, and speak your mind, you have so many riveting insights that other students, and maybe even your professors, might not think of. Music lessons aren't as bad as you think they are, and the cafeteria food is relatively safe to eat. You can shine there, if you'll let yourself.

  4. What's unique about your campus?

What I really like about Bethany College, is the the closeness that the students and the faculty have. At Bethany, you are able to have that close relationship that you couldnt have at bigger universities. This school cares about the success of it's students and does everything it can to prepare us for our future and that is very comforting to me.

  5. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

One of the reasons I chose Bethany College was because of the size of the college and the small, close nit community. There is a great, reciprocated support from the citizens of Lindsborg for us college students. Because of the small college campus and number of students that attend, we have a low student to teacher ratio. We have so many opportunities to be active members of the classes and have ample opportunities to receive extra help if needed. Another reason I love Bethany College is that everyone knows eachother and everyone can find their niche to feel comfortable in.

  6. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Although Bethany has traditionally been an artistic school, home of artist Birger Sandzen and host for of the Messiah Festival for over 130 years, the funding for arts all over Kansas has been drastically cut. The focus in the midwest has switched to athlete-education; however, we have a new Dean of Students, Provost, and Athletic Director who are ensuring that all students are guided under the same principles and penalties. So though the attention has been diverted from strictly athleticism, there is still a lack of interest and funding for the arts at Bethany.

Bethany College welcomes anyone with the knowledge and wisedom of setting a path for their future. Bethany College is a positive and safe campus for any college student. In my opinon, I am lucky to be here with such great friends and families who encourage others to try their best with their academics and athletics. I like to encourage younger students to try our college and see what they think about the environment and the social life. If they are in sports, have them try practicing with the team.
