During several visits to campus, I have noticed that there are always activities posted for students in all areas of interest to participate in. Dorms are clean and were quiet both times we toured. Faculty is seen throughout campus, not just in the classroom and always friendly. The campus is beautiful and very calming with a creek that runs through the middle of campus.
I love attending Brevard college! I enjoy being able to be at the school achieving an education, and also I love being surrounded by these beautiful mountains. I am also blessed to be a Brevard college athlete.
It isa place where you must make your own fun, but the class sizes allow for hands on experience and one on one experience. This is a school that is very big on everyone coming together and a very friendly community. It is small, so you get to know everyone really quick.
it is an average school, was expecting much more from when I had the campus tour. buildings are run down and need maintenance. class sizes are perfect they're not big and teachers are there to help. athletics are okay facilities could be better. campus itself is beautiful but needs some work. the people are friendly and very involved in the community.

Brevard College is best suited for students who prefer to be part of a small community. It would not be appropriate for a student looking to be a part of a large, bustling campus. In addition to the small campus and class size, the town of Brevard is also quite small.
Sometimes it does get boring when the town shuts down at like 7pm on weekdays and 9pm on weekends. The cost is probably the majority of student's problem. It is so expensive and not very many scholarships are handed out. I only have a soccer and academic scholarship, and their amounts only cover a small bit of the tuition.
I wish I would have known how lax the curriculum is. While the school provides a great "college environment", it is weak in academics. The classes I have taken so far (granted I've only been here one semester so far) were super easy. I was expecting college to be stressful, and insanely difficult neither of with has happend here so far.
being so far away from home and not knowing the new city i will be living in.
The small population. It is so much easier to get to know those people so go to school with and make friends. The teachers can work one on one with you and you don't feel like your being rushed because there are so many other people waiting.
Brevard College is an amazing community that welcomes people from all walks of life with open arms. I am so glad that I chose to come to Brevard. The faculty and staff here at the college are so welcoming and helpful in times of need. They are always willing to go the extra mile to help you, and you never feel like you are unwanted.
Here at Brevard, the great outdoors is very important. From biking to hiking, bowling to debating: there is something to do every second of the day. Being with good friends and enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds the campus is the most common activity here at the college.
There are small class sizes which means that you have to give one hundred percent to all your work. It can be challenging, but it is also a lot of fun to have professors who push you to be the very best that you can be. The staff is always helpful and is always willing to lend an encouraging word when you are feeling down.
What is unique about my shcool is that it is a very small university, which I consider to be a great thing. Being a small university, it gives me a chance to be more hands on. It allows me to gain one on one time with my preffesor and take away more from the lesson. At Brevard the motto is "learn by doing" which gives students more of a chance to be involed. At Brevard you can engage yourself in many different clubs that help you obtain leadership goals. At breavrd you'll join a close knit family.
Arts and Music
Some of the biggest stereotypes about BC are as follows: we are all hippies we are anti athletics we are all music students we are all rich kids
The biggest stereotype of the students here at Brevard College is that we are a music school only. Although we have a phenomenal musical program here at the college, there is also so much more that Brevard has to offer. Another stereotype of the students here is that we are a hard partying school. Even though we like to have fun every once in a while; we take our studies very seriously and have great relationships with the faulty and staff here at Brevard.
Luckily these stereotypes are really not true at all. So a lot of us do love nature more than most schools, but the main reason for that is we live in Brevard, NC which is right next door to Pisgah National Forest and Dupont Forest. We are known as the land of the waterfalls because we have over 260 waterfalls right in our backyard (I mean wouldnt you love nature a little more if you could go do your homework beside a 200 ft waterfall). Also we have a program here known as WLEE (Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education) which is for students who really love the nature and wish t pursue careers in that area. Classes include Kayaking, Backpacking, rock climbing, Immersion whcih is a 20 day backpacking trip (think of it as your final project for the major). We are definitly not anti athletics. At Brevard we have a total of about 650 students and over 50{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of them are athletes. Our sports include Football, Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, Track and Field, Cheerleading, Cycling, Golf, Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, and Softball. Me being a music major I dont really know a lot about the atheltics but i do know that i have made some great friends who are atheltes and even though there is some students who are "anti" athletes that is a very small percentage of the school. Since Brevrd is so small we all really want everyone to succeed in what ever they are pursuing. Granted that music is a very important and popular major at this school, not everyone who goes here studies music. Most peole getus confused with the Brevard Music Center which is a school that takes place during the summer that is all music (hince the name of the school). However we do have a very good music program and we have an incredibly talented faculty and staff. We are definitly not all rich kids. Just because this is a private and it is a litle more expensive than most 87{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the student body has some sort of financial aid. $7 million in aid was coordinated for Brevard College students in 2003-2004 for 578 students (thats alot of money). Nd believe me if BC wasnt so willing to help with Financial Aid then i wouldnt have been able to go there.
It is a beautiful area. We are the only area in the country with White Squirrls. I love how we have small classes and it is easy to connect with other students and the professors. There is not a lot to do social wise, but there is a lot to do in the outdoors; like hiking, fishing, kayaking, mountain climbing and biking, etc. Brevard is a small town, but there are several neat places to go to nearby... like Asheville, Hendersonville, lakes, and ski resorts.
