Brigham Young Univerisities campus astmosphere separates it from all other Universities that I applied to because it has strong moral values engrained into its honor code by prohobiting: drinking, smoking, and sexual activity before marriage , as part of the honor code; it also provides opportunities to serve in the community through helping the elderly, the troubled teens, the young students in need of tutors, the local food banks. I believe that the only way to succeed personally is by helping others succeed at the same time and BYU fit this motto best.

Heather

BYU fits my standards. I don't have to worry about judgement or catty remarks because of my beliefs because the entire university is based on those beliefs and is required to live by them. BYU also has exactly the program that I'm looking for, and their program is one of the top ranking in the United States. In the end, there was no other answer--I knew that BYU would give me the comfort and the training that I needed to be who I wanted to be.

Michelle

The atmosphere and the honor code (a set of rules concerning personal conduct and dress that all students and faculty are required to follow) make all the difference. Also, everybody is friendly to everybody, and there is a place for everybody here.

Hortencia

Universities are places where our minds can develope many differents kind of skills. They are a places of education for life. In adittion of this characteristic Brigham Young University is a place where not just our mind have an opportunity to develope knowledge. In BYU our spiritual and social development are as important as the mind development, this is what makes BYU unique over all others schools. BYU is a place wher the spirit can learn too. The education in BYU is centered in one truth, we should learn to serve others in order to make a better world.

Jonathan

A friendly environment without all the drugs and drinking.

Cynthia

THe most unique aspect of BYU is it is a private Christian University, founded and run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly refered to as the Mormon church). The standards are really high. In order to even apply for the University, applicants must agree to live by the "Honor Code", a series of rules put in place to help protect students, encourage learning, and bring about an environment where students with high standards will all feel comfortable. Drinking, smoking, and drug use is almost non existent, both weekdays and on the weekends.

Summer

Brigham Young University brings in students from all over the United States and also the world, and builds in them a great sense of unity

Raven

I love how it is religion centered. As a private school run by a church we are allowed to bring religion and God into every subject. I like that. Many of my classes start with a prayer and try to bring the gospel into the subject matter so far as it permits.

Amanda

BYU students are required to sign an honor code. The honor code states that you will dress modestly, not drink or do drugs, and that you will be chaste. Because of this BYU campus is very unique compared to other college campuses. Students here focus more on school, work, and social life with the absence of drugs and alcohol. The students here are very friendly and willing to hwlp others. BYU is also all about service. There are always service opportunites to either give back to the school, community, or other students.

Ashley

There is a greater amount of unity because of the honor code, which all students must abide by. In order to attend the university, students cannot drink alcohol, coffee, or tea, smoke or use drugs. A dress code is enforced, which includes not wearing dresses or shorts that are above the knee and not wearing sleeveless shirts. Hair cannot be past a certain length for men and students must be well groomed. Classes relate subjects to religious doctrines and often include prayer. Practically every student obeys these rules and they do it eagerly.

David

It is extremely white and Mormon. People are very considerate and friendly. Its a very attractive school and the people are attractive as well. There is pretty much no alcohol anywhere.

Nicole

It is a sober school. You can have fun with out drinking or drugs, and there is always something to do on the weekends that is sober, but also provides a way for you to meet new people.

Carolyn

It's a very challenging school. I would only recommend it to people who are extremey focused and willing to learn. It offers plenty of opportunities for people with motivation, but it has to come from within yourself. This school is for those who are willing to work for themselves

Camilla

I have never experienced so much school spirit, a stronger emphasis on success, brighter students, a more engaging faculty, or a more beautiful campus in my school career.

Jon

BYU is the best value you will find in any American university, especially when the quality of offered programs is examined. Most students speak a second language other than english. And prayer is often a part of the classroom experience.

Alyssa

It has a great atmosphere for any student attending here. Though it is primarily attended by Latter-Day Saints, people of different cultures and religions find themselves very much at home here, which I find very nice.

Megan

The atmosphere, the religion, the quality of the classes is higher, and the prestige involved.

Katherine

There is no drinking, students enjoy themselves without the aid of stimulating substances. Vastly LDS population. Students must abide by Honor Code. Lots of people getting married young.

Meliame

Because we have an Honor Code, there are rules that students choose to live by as they attend BYU. We are also the number one sober stone university.

Jay

There are high standards established here to contribute to your learning process. There are no fraternities or sororities. There is no alchohol allowed and premarital sex isn't permitted. These are just some examples of the standards established to help the students focus on their school work and learn to the best of their own abilities.

Cortney

This one has a strong moral background. I knew that if I came here i wouldn't really have to worry about my safety. I knew that the teachers had a general interest in their student. Last, this school has an amazing ballroom program.

Sandi

BYU has very high moral and educational standards. Also; though, it has a broad selection of majors, a large number of students major in something humanities related.

Tanner

It has a great accounting program. It has a great French program. It's a better education for your money.

Andrew

People are just very out going and always really helpful what ever situation you may be in. I decided to come here because I thought I would provide me with a good education that I could afford and still provide that social interaction with people of my faith. I am very happy that there is not drinking and other things like that here to hinder educational developement.

Nathan

Owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Closer to home.

Scott

It isn't trashy. The student are real and are for the most part trying there best to be great people. Most of the students speak a second language. This is because many of us have severed two year missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saintsin in far off countries. I severed in Russia.

Seth

Its 90{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} mormon and only 2k a semester.

Natalya

I love BYU because everyone around you shares could values and treats everyone with respect no matter there background. Alochol and drugs are hard to find in Provo, and it is so nice to go out and know that you do not have to worry about those kind of problems. BYU is so special and I love going to school here

Devon

It was a place where I didn't have to worry about alcohol, drugs and other similiar problems that other campuses have to deal with. The atmosphere was very positive and everyone seems willing to help.

Heri

We are honest,we don't drink, work hard, religious, and smart.

Ashley

BYU is a chruch sponsored school for me (Church os Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). Having so many people around me that believe what I believe religiously and have the same values as me makes socializing so much easier. It feels really great after going to a high school where I was one of three Moromon people in my whole school. BYU is such a loving community. Students really treat everyone like family, and that's what BYU is in a sense; a family.

Victoria

There's a very strong emphasis on self-improvement, personal progress, and individual worth as a person. Students are constantly encouraged to push themselves to do their best, but also reminded that no one is perfect and that one must keep trying even when mistakes are made. This university upholds high standards and maintains expectations of good, respectful behavior from those who attend as well as those that visit. In my opinion, these high expectations for excellence, respect, good self presentation, and service are what really set my school apart from others.

Daniel

Since it is a religious school most people do hold many of the same beliefs and live many of the same standards, but even those I have met that are not affiliated with the same religion or are not religious at all feel comfortable on campus and enjoy the conservative, laid back feel. Also, the Honor Code prohibits alcohol and other things that you often see at other schools, which makes this a more unique experience as well.

Heidi

BYU is extremely inexpensive. , but it's also hugely intertwined with mormon action/thought. can't really attend unless committed to keeping church rules and attending church.

Jason

Brigham Young University is a pretty conservative school. We have been voted the number one Stone-Cold Sober University in U.S. for the 11th straight year this year. As a result students at BYU are focused on their studies, but we still know how to have fun. There are a lot of things to do in Provo during the school year, so we stay busy.

Bradford

It is a Mormon school, so diversity is not its strong suite.

Jacob

Crossing campus is always an adventure. You never know what to expect! I doubt that there is anywhere else on earth that you can hear six or seven languages as you walk across campus. You may see an a cappella group out on the corner, or the Quill & Sword club out fighting each other or a dance class in the quad or a protest about Tibetan monks. There's always something going on.

Susan

What's unique about BYU is the encouragement to be not just a scholar, but a disciple-scholar. Not only do we seek for the facts of this world, we seek for eternal truth, truth taught by Jesus Christ. Also, we don't go to school to be good at something, as much as we go to be good for something. Our motto is "Enter to learn, go forth to serve." We seek to develop skills and talents that will bless the lives of others, not just for the job that will make us rich.

KJ

I was not a fan of BYUSA. I don't think they actually accomplish anything they set out to do. That's just my opinion.

Charlotte

BYU is extremely unique when compared with other universities because of the religious beliefs we all follow as well as the hard work ethic most students have.

Summer

I loved my 7 years at BYU (undergrad and grad degrees!). If I were to do them again, however, I would have tried to be me sooner rather than later. It's easy to get lost in the crowd of 30,000 that you think are perfect, but just be yourself and it'll be fabulous.

Kelly

I love BYU. But I think I hate college. I think BYU has done as fabulous a job as it can, and it's a wonderful place for anyone who is searching for a light and easy way to keep your standards (most of them anyways *grin*). But for those of you who don't fit the social norm, it'll be harder for you to adjust. Unless you're an art major, that is. They're all beautiful, glorious freaks.

Becky

There are so many classes at BYU that I want to take just for my own pleasurable learning experience. I am grateful to BYU for the molding experiences that I've had thus far, experiences that have taught me more than just simple education, but understanding that encompasses all things in my life.

John

I LOVE BYU!!!!

Lindsay

Hike the Y!

Heather

BYU is a very unique university to attend!

Nick

if morals are important, this is the place to be. If they're not, this is still the place to be, you'll repent, no worries.

Marguerite

I absolutely love BYU. The years I have spent here, and the years I will spend here serve as the most rewarding of my life

Emily

i love byu, but i hate the weather in provo, and it's also just kind of a lame city, which makes me want to leave as soon as i can.

Mackenzie
