While we have a number of traditional fraternities and two sororities, Greek Life in the traditional sense is not a huge part of campus life. The Frats throw parties which are pretty well attended, but their reach doesn't go much further than that; there is certainly no pressure to be in someway affiliated with Greek life. However, similar to Greek Life are the special program housing options, which include spanish/french housing, literary society, social action house, etc. These have a relatively large presence on campus, and are known for their quality themed parties, their social activism, and their co-op cooking and housing efforts.

For me, going Greek was entirely unplanned, and my Greek life is very unconventional; I'm in a co-ed fraternity that exists only at Brown.
