What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Emilie

The most frustrating thing about my school is the cost. Butler University offers one of the greatest educations but when you are majoring in education, the cost does not balance the major. What I mean is, I want to be the best teacher I can be when I get older but being a teacher won't pay for the expensive cost of Butler's education. Therefore I have to decide whether I want to be an amazing teacher or not be in so much debt when I get older. Why can't I do both?

Gabby

Butler is very academically challenging and sometimes this can lead to frustration. It will definitely give you a better education, but you cannot be afraid to really work.

This year the freshmen class at Butler is the largest it has ever been, so housing was a bit of a mess this year. Some people were placed in "forced triples" meaning 3 people were living in a room that was really only a double. However, some people were living in double rooms alone because their roommates decided not to attend Butler. I feel like some swapping should have been done in orded for people to live comfortably.

The most frustrating thing about my school is the price of books. I hate purchasing books through the bookstore, so I usually go through Amazon.com. While I am usually able to do this, the University does write some of their own books so I have to purchase them through the University Bookstore.

Ginnye

Lack of access to places other than campus. I.e., the city and surrounding neighborhoods.

Amber

The level of classes. Most of the business classes at Butler feel like high school level classes instead of college level classes. I also do not like the dining hall hours especially on weekends.

Joshua

I think the most frustrating thing is that sometimes, people can be too cautious. Sometimes it seems like various groups are too afraid to engage other various groups in dialogue.

The food services are very poor and not diverse at all. We eat the same thing every day. For as much as we pay, better food services and quality should be expected. Also, we should be able to live off campus whenever we want, not only our senior year. We have to pay way too much our junior year to live in university housing, where we could pay a lot less if we can rent a house around campus.

Michael

I find the number of core classes we must take is high and that some are not really useful.

Paige

Because it's so small classes are sometimes only offered once a year

Kristina

That you have to drive anywhere off campus. Nothing is close enough to safely walk to.

Adrienne

There are not enough diverse classes that one could take as an elective that big ten schools would offer.

Jeff

The President and the Athletic Director seem more worried about accomplishing their own personal goals to help improve their reputations than actually trying to help the students. If the President sees something he wants to change, he will put together a panel of students and/or professors and ask for their input, but then ignore everything the students and professors say, and go ahead with his original plan.

Whitney

There is a lot of work and pressure to do well. Also, if you are not in a frat or sorority you kind of feel out of place!
