Butte College Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

While this might be the best community college I've ever attended( I've attended two additional CC's), I would probably say the worst part of this campus is that it's in the middle of nowhere. It feels very removed from the outside world and that feeling of isolation can be taken as focusing on the academic environment or that there is literally nothing to do between classes like going to lunch across the street. While Chico Center does feel more integrated, the Main Campus in Oroville feels like a foil to CSU Chico that is adjacent to downtown. As a result, most of the items sold on campus (mainly the food) are overpriced and somewhat low quality. You don't have any other options, so you either pack a lunch or deal with it.

I honestly do not really have anything bad to say about Butte. I think it is really pretty and most of the staff and teachers are very nice and helpful. I mean there are some teachers that are rude, grumpy, and not helpful but, there are those people at every school. If I have to pick the worse thing about Butte is that it is a 30 minute commute from my house.

Shelby

It is a long ways away from anything. It takes me 20-30 minutes to drive to school everyday and it uses a lot of gas.

roberto

commuting to and from school can be difficult because you may have classes in two or more different cities.

Leo

Parking facilities (too few spaces) and the cafeteria (high prices).

The worst thing about my school is that it goes in a semester system. I feel that you spend too much time on one subject. Also, since we are in college now, it would be more of a challenge to be pushed more. So I think my school should switch to the quarter system. By doing this, it wont only push us to study more, but it will also force us to meet new people.

As of right now the parking situation on campus is the worst. It seems there are never enough spots. They really need a couple parking structures and, more carpool spaces. Also, I don't like how the registration is set up online, it is a little confusing and not very efficient.

The location is the worst part of the school. It is out in the middle of nowhere so you need to either take the bus from Chico, CA to the campus, or you have to drive 30 minutes out to campus. The choice is either to spend gas money or spend 2 hours travel time waiting for the bus to and from school.
