Cabrillo college is like a bridge. In the small classes there are young students that are still in high school on there way to higher education sitting next to graduate students completing prerequisites for second degrees. When I moved to the area 20 years ago fresh out of art school I took several art classes at Cabrillo College before setting up my studio. I can say from experience that the art studios and professors are top notch. A few years ago I began taking science classes at Cabrillo (human anatomy, chemistry, physics, microbiology). I was able to succeed in these classes because the professors really care about their students. I was impressed with the labs and the resources available. Utilizing the study centers were crucial to my success. I was recently accepted into a masters of sciences in communication disorders program. The sciences classes I took at Cabrillo College made me eligible for the competitive program. Even though I start my online masters program this January, I will continue to be a student (studying Spanish) at Cabrillo’s beautiful campus.

My overall experience at Cabrillo College has been amazing. Both my kids were students here a Cabrillo, my daughter is now in grad school and my son transferring this spring. So I am very happy with the education they’ve providing us during these past and current years.

Overall, I have greatly enjoyed my time at Cabrillo College. It has been a wonderful experience talking to teachers and students about the classwork and assignments. I strongly believe that Cabrillo is a safe space where students participate in politics, art, and intellectual discussions in and out of class. My teachers have been quick to respond to questions I have.

In general, Cabrillo is a good college. I believe that almost everyone agrees with that. Facilities are fair, and the "HUB" (learning center) is one of the greatest things at Cabrillo! Place is relatively safe and quiet. Teachers are good and very accessible. Overall, Cabrillo is a good choice for non-rich students.

    What I brag most about when I'm with my friends is the fact that class size is small, so you recieve all the attention you need. The professors are well educated, friendly, and enjoy teaching. Plus, if you are having difficulty with your work, your professors have office hours to help you. The campus is small so theres always a chance of running into some friends on your way to class.

    They have some awesome programs for all different types of people and income budget for them. Also they have so many different kinds of clubs that you can join on and off the college campus. Another thing is that the college has a program to help students find rides to and from home so that they can get to the college back and forth.

  7. What's unique about your campus?

    The educational staff at Cabrillo is known in the area to have some of the best professors. Many professors engage their class in current events and trends that may be seen as "alternative," or are not even relevant in other areas of the country. I feel that a lot of emphasis is on environmental preservation and free and open minded thinking. Many professors challenge students to research and think for themselves before deciding and forming their own opinions on controversial issues. To me, this is one of the most important assets an individual can possess.

  8. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

    The worst thing about my school is the fact that there is not a lot of social interaction. Because I go to a community college, when class is out, everyone goes home. It's very rare to ever really get to know anyone, in some classes there isn't even opportunites to talk to one another. Other than that, my school is great. My school is just a hard place to get to know people.

    Everyone is accepted. Those who are able and willing to expand their knowledge in education has every right to do so. Therefore, there is not one person who should NOT attend.

  13. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

    I wish that I had taken High School more seriously inorder to prepare myself for college work. I think the transition would have been much easier, had I dedicated the time and effort previously, verses having to rebuild a better work ethic now.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA. Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
