Cabrini University Top Questions

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Allie

There are so many clubs on campus, and so many ways to get involved. Our CAP (activities) board and SGA (student govt) plan so many activities on campus that are 5$ if not free. Our formal was in the mansion this year and was absolutely gorgeous and students could go for only 25$. There is also a Black and White Student Gala (formal) that is only 5$! I have been to NYC for 5$ transportation and all and I have bought tickets to a broadway show with transportation provided for 35$! Comedians, performers, games, and other attractions are always on campus and there are always postings and emails about what is going on! Last year All Time Low came to campus, and this year MAE is coming! Other big events are CAV tip-off, Cabrini Day, Cabrini Funny Fest, Alex's Lemonade Stand, Fall Festival, and the Involvement Block Party. Free t-shirts are aplenty at Cabrini! Many of the clubs are major oriented so you can build your resume from a career standpoint, and it is easy to pick and choose what you want to devote your time to. I am the Vice President of CEC which is Cabrini's chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children and we work closely with area special needs schools and do volunteer activities. The experience that I gain in my field through the club is invaluable and I get to do something good for someone else. You and your friends usually end up making plans together to go to certain events, parties, and other stuff. My friends and I usually end up at the mall or the 2$ movies at least once every 2 weeks. There are so many area places to go and there are free train tickets every first Friday of the month so it is easy and cheap to explore Philly any weekend you want. Parties are easy to find on Cabrini and off campus, if that is what your interested in, but you do not have to feel pressured into going. It is college after all, so you make your own choices.

There is plenty of social life on Cabrini. Always some sort of activity to do, even on the weekends. Biggest drinking night is Thursdays, which really stinks if you're not interested in that sort of thing/have an earlier morning class on Fridays.

There is soooo much to do both on campus and off campus. We are 5 minutes from the train station that takes you into the city. We are also just a couple of minutes from Wayne which is a cute little shopping district with your cafes and small places to eat along the way. There are many trips and study abroad options both during the semester and over breaks. There are no fraternities or sororities on Cabrini's campus. There are many campus activities both during the week and on the weekends. There is bingo a couple of times a month and they give away prizes such as digital cameras, gift cards, PS2 and ipods. There is casino night once in a while and they do take trips to different place like Broadway to see a show. A lot of the activities are free but some like the Broadway trip do come with a little price. Never too much though that students can't afford it.

There are a lot of activities to get involved with on campus. Within the majors there are clubs and activities and there are also campuswide organizations students can join. Sports teams are a big activity on campus. There are enough things for everyone on campus to be a part of. Events on campus are very frequent, however, they're hard to get an audience for. It's as if the Cabrini community doesn't care if there's a magician or a singer on campus - no one shows up. Also, Cabrini basically shuts down on the weekends. Mostly everyone goes home and there's usually nothing left to do on campus.
