I am at Cal Poly Pomona, which I entered, but your page misunderstood.
Many nerdy intraverted kids in my engineering classes. In my industrial engineering, much more atheletes and social and fraternity/sorority members like me
A Cal Poly mustang is helpful, outgoingly friendly, and always has your back.
Great
Cal Poly Mustangs preserver, are dedicated, motivated, and disciplined, and lead their example through the school motto of "Learn By Doing."
My many classmates may have different goals for their lives, but we support each other in order to reach our aspirations and passions.
almost everybody at cal poly is smart, fit, and well rounded.
My fellow mechanical engineering classmates have a varying array of personalities, ranging from completely lazy and not knowing why they even attended class today to those like me who, in their free time, delve futher into the topics they are interested in outside of course assignments.
My classmates are engaging, friendly, and are easy to talk to. There is diversity amongst my classmates, not just with race, but with socioeconomic level, hometowns, hobbies, etc.
My classmates are encouraging individuals that enjoy school.
My classmates are always willing to help me whenever I'm failing to understand the material, and are continually encouraging me in my studies.
The students at Cal Poly are very friendly and diversified. There are so many student-run clubs and organizations.
Although Cal Poly does not have as much racial diversity as other colleges, I have noticed that Cal Poly students are very tolerant of different cultures, religions, and sexual orientations. Cal Poly is a pretty laid-back school. Many students just wear work-out clothes to class, especially since the new Rec Center recently opened.
Our students are a majority white population. The student body as a whole is very kind, intelligent, considerate, but lacking diversity. I believe minority group students would feel a bit isolated in our population. The lack of diversity carries over into social groups. I see groups tend to stick together based on race. I also notice different majors stick together such as engineers and the agriculture students. I believe people are taught to break down these stereotypes by taking such diverse classes, especially humanities classes that encourage diversity. We are making progress, but I believe Cal Poly students don't want too much diversity because they aren't used to it.
A majority of the students at Cal Poly come from middle class white backgrounds. However, students of all backgrounds are accepted they just might have to put themselves out there a bit more. Most students dress casually to class with jeans and a sweatshirt when its colder. In the warmer months you will see a lot more shorts and skirts. Different types of students interact all the time when campus-wide events are being put on. Also many clubs participate in inter-disciplinary projects where they collaborate with other clubs and possibly different types of students. The students are not particularly politically active but there is a feel that many students are right center in their beliefs.
Cal Poly is very diversified as far as religion and politics go, but ethnically I would have to say there seems to be a majority of white people. Although whites are the majority, all races are welcomed and I see people of many different ethnic backgrounds working together all the time. I think that no student would ever feel out of place at Cal Poly because there are so many different people that there is always someone who shares your opinions and ideas.
Cal Poly students are diverse in all aspects of life, ranging from religion to personal interests. Most students rave about the exceptional social environment found on Cal Poly's campus. With its nationally-recognized W.O.W week (orientation week), Cal Poly provides its students with a highly effective program for introducing new students to college life and catalyzing new friendships from day one.
San Luis Obispo as a whole is not a very diverse town. We have clubs on campus for different majors and for different ethnic groups and the minorities tend to get very involved in them. All different types of people on campus interact all the time, the campus is extremely friendly and people are generally outgoing. Most students seem to come from fairly well off parents and tend to be more right winged. Students do not often discuss future salaries but do often talk about what they are interested in and what they hope to pursue in the future.
Pretty much everyone that is at Poly wants to be here. This is not a school you go to if you don't know where you want to go. Coming into Poly you need already have selected a major so you have to have some interest in what you will be learning. Because of this I feel like the majority of people really put effort into making good connections with other students and their professors so that success is easily achieved. Students here are also very easy going; I have yet to really come across any a**holes and enjoy talking to most everyone. The school is not very cliquey at all and often in class the majority of people are just wearing sweats and a sweatshirt- no one cares whatsoever.
My classmantes are driven, intelligent, and determined to get into vet school.
My classmates are goal-orientated.
Students at Cal Poly tended to be well-rounded, while placing a large emphasis on academic success.
They are easy-going and aspire to learn something new everyday.
Generally, Cal Poly students are your average friendly, active California kids.
Students at Cal Poly are respectful, hardworking, passionate about their majors ( we do not have an "undeclared" option), always seeking the way toward educational growth through our motto "learn by doing", and all the while being involved in on-campus activities as well as off- campus ventures.
Some classmate didnt take school serious and thought of school as a joke. Now that I am about to transfer this fall ,they are barley starting to go to school again.
Most students are open to meeting new people and quick to offer help.
More than just classmates, they are freinds that will last forever and people who are always around to help.
My classmates are a mixture of many different people. However, they are mainly people who attend class to learn or learn only what is required. They are hard working students who care about thier grades and study hard. However, they do not mind cutting a corner to ensure they can have fun just like any typical undergraduate college student.
My classmates are close and supportive, yet challenging and competitive, which creates an interesting and varied group of students and friends.
Open, friendly students that are happy to be getting a hands-on learning experience.
Classmates vary from anti-social engineers to ALL guys to a pretty balanced class of different majors.

My classmates are active, hardworking, and busy with many school projects. .
My classmates have a good balance between focusing on school and enjoying the college life. Everyone is very friendly and willing to help others.
Those who are interested in engineering but are not quite sure what to persue.
Cal Poly's pretty much the one of the most white-concentrated student bodies in California. Students are mainly drawn from LA, San Diego, and San Francisco/Bay Area and yet the majority of the campus is white.
My classmates are ethnically monotonous, but intellectually dynamic.
My classmates at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo are open, helpful, and friendly, making class and social activities fun and enjoyable.
My classmates are outgoing, bright, friendly, enaging, interested, and willing to help out.
Upbeat, enthusiastic, knowledgable.
Extremely friendly and approachable and all of them are very willing to work together.
Diverse
Most of my classmates are focused and studious, but like to relax and have a good time on the weekends.
My classmates are friendly and outgoing. We all support each other and help each other to do well. I would not be making it through college without my classmates.
Most of my classmates are hardworkers. While there are some who slack off and don't really care much about their grades, most students genuinely try hard to succeed. The students who make it to the upperclassman level are more interested in their classes since they are for their chosen major, so they tend to learn more and stay more focused.
The students here are friendly, helpful, focused on academic success without compromising fun, bright, intelligent, and overall great people who cultivate an active learning environment.
They are all mentally diverse but tend to have much more book smarts than common sense.
