Cal Poly is great school because of it's emphasis on the "learn by doing" model. We have great facilities and awesome professors. Most colleges here teach you the tools that you will need to work once you graduate. Cal Poly graduates generally get hired into higher positions than other graduates. Being such a competitive and academically focused school, students here graduate with a good reputation and are desirable job applicants. It also really helps that San Luis Obispo is a great place to live.

The best thing about this school is the environment. Naturally there are plenty of activities for one to do, such as hiking, going to the beach, riding bikes, etc. Non-naturally the city of San Luis Obispo has a small town feel with a very nice downtown area.

The location! SLO is beautiful, and there are lots of areas outside to explore and hike. Everybody leads a very active lifestyle.

This school is exceptional in virtually all fields, ranging from academics to housing to campus atmosphere. Among these, the quality of academics stands out the most to me. The classes are extremely efficient and highly effective when it comes to generating a functional learning atmosphere. The quarter system here accelerates the rate of classes so that more material may be covered in a year, but does not add much stress from the increased rate at which material is covered. The school is legendary for its achievement, especially in engineering fields, which are built upon a strong academic foundation.

My best aspect about my school would have to be that they make sure that I am individually being taking care academically. They go the extra mile to make sure my classes are being taught at a pace that allows me to be successful.

The nice weather and social activities make Cal Poly a great place to be. I also think that there is a great sense of community here. Everyone here is nice and helpful.

I love the hands on learning. It really helps me understand the topics we go over in class better. I also absolutely love that there are animals on campus. I can go up there and watch people taking classes about them and learn a few things about them myself. I like that the college is big and there are a lot of people as well. I'm always seeing new people every day.

The community is the best part of coming here. It makes transitioning to college here so much easier than say at some large university in a more urban setting. When I first came here I immediately noticed a distinct difference in how positive, helpful, and pleasant the entire community is. This does not solely apply to the students: the town is also a great place to be. Simply being on campus and walking around is something that makes me smile. It's a great place to study something that truly interests you.

Everybody is really active and always on the run it seems. They are either studying, at the gym, at get togethers, working, or in class. It rarely seems like there is down time. The school has great energy in the class and everywhere else.

The focus of the professors is really to teach and help the students in an academic setting. Many other universities are more research-oriented, and the students don't receive much attention from their professors unless they are also part of their research projects. I think what I described above are some of the best things about Cal Poly. I love the location! We're a 15 minute drive from the beach, surrounded by numerous hiking trails and set in a beautiful town. San Luis Obispo offers a healthy lifestyle for its students as any place you could want to go is just a walk or bike ride away. I also absolutely love the fact that I am not just a number but an individual to my professors. The size of Cal Poly is perfect!

The best thing about Cal Poly, aside from the gorgeous location, is that it's very hands on. The motto "Learn by doing" may seem cliche, but its true. While there is a primary focus on your major, there are many opportunities to explore other interests, from research projects, internships, clubs, and more. Plus, for the most part, the professors are very available and willing to help, not only in their own class but in others and in college life and general issues as well.

The best thing that I have experienced so far about my school is the global teaching method "learn by doing". This simple phrase greatly influences the way classes are taught; for example, as a first year architecture student, I have already started drafting, learning how to build models, and using computer programs that are heavily used in architecture as a profession. The rigor of the hands-on focused programs at Cal Poly challenge us students to use and draw from everything we are learning as we progress in our education.

I think the best thing about my school is the location. It's beautiful in San Luis. The beach is near by and there are many hiking spots available. There is always something recreational to do around here.

The sheer amount and variety of activites and groups that you can get involved in makes it almost impossible not to find something that will be the perfect fit for you. The school focuses on teaching practical information and letting even freshmen get hands on experience. It is invaluable and has helped me get two internships over older candidates from more expensive schools.

Location

Cal Poly requires prospective students to declare a major before attending. Additionally, switching majors is difficult. While this is unappealing to some, it's extremely helpful for those who are sure of their future career. It allows immediate assimilation into a student's chosen field. I've always wanted to be an architect, and by first year I was already building models in the woodshop and installing them onto the architecture building while peers at other schools were learning how to draw perspectives. Cal Poly's "Learn by Doing" mentality prepares students for the real world, not grad school.

I believe some of the best things about my school are the size, professors, and location. The size of the campus and classes offered here offer students a more intimate setting than many major universities and give them a better oppotunity for individual help. Because of this, the professors here are more than willing to help students and answer their questions. The town is small, so the students and professors live in the same community. They interact both in and outside of school, helping the small towns economy.

The best thing is the push for academic success. They really make a push for students to succeed, it doesn't mean that everyone does, but they definitely are a conduit for success.

The relationship between faculty and the students is probably one of the best things at my campus. The professors make in effort to get to know you and your personal strengths and weaknesses.

This school has a great value for the education you get. For example, an engineering major that gets an engineering job can pay off loans very quickly. Also, if a student decides to pursue another path, they aren't left with loads of debt and a burden to go for a high-paying job. Money shouldn't be that important, and it's nice that Cal Poly allows students to live that way.

Also the school encourages students to supplement classwork with a club or project on the outside. This leads many students to have very full, but well rounded resumes at the end of their undergraduate carreer.

The best part of Cal Poly is the professors that have career experience that they bring into the classroom. This allows them to give students information that actually pertains to the jobs that they will have after graduation. Also the classes are all very hands on which helps me because i am a hands-on learner. Being involved in what I'm learning helps make the information both more interesting and more understandable.

Being career oriented while still providing several venues to have a successful social life. My major classes are usually demanding but also very worthy towards my carrer. At the same time, i am involved in multiple clubs and organizations outside of the academia world that allow me to be who i am and enjoy myself while i am at school. If your'e focused, it is very easy to manage both lives and enjoy your time at Cal Poly.
