What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Nicholas

For me, it comes down to sports. Of all my interests and hobbies, sports are the only ones that aren't fulfilled on campus. This adds to their lack of student participation in extracurricular events; the fact that there are no teams to support and bring people together. The fields are there, the people wanting to participate too, but the leaders to bring about a change and form these teams are not, or simply are there for other, more niche clubs and organizations.

Vanessa

The worst thing about my school would be that since it is sucha relatively small school, they do no offer a masters program for my major, which is psychology. I really enjoy the campus so I wish I could stay here as long as possible. Unfortunately since they do not offer a masters program, I will be transferring after I obtain my B.A. in psychology.

Charlene

I consider the worst thing about CSU Channel Islands is that there is not a lot to do. It is a very small campus but I would like to see more activities.

Anahi

It is very difficult to do grassroots organizing. Everything has an administrative protocol that has to be followed. It is very difficult to organize something and ask for everyone to donate something for the pot luck. I think if students had more freedom to organize events like this. We could dor more events. Instead it is almost as if they were trying to make it as difficult as possible. At the same time. I understand why there should be some procedure to follow.

Alexandra

It is very small, I would'nt say it is a bad thing but sometimes I wish I was at bigger campus. There is not much to do on the weekends outside of school since it is very secluded and located around a lot of farmland. If I could change one thing about my school it would be the location and size of the campus.

Jenna

The dorms are so great to live in and a quick way to find friends. However, the campus is deserted on the weekends, so make sure you bring a car or get creative in having fun. There is only the library and cafe on campus, its still new, but doesn't have fun dorm life going for it.

Nancy

Ethnicity is something that I considered is not good because the majority is whites and I think we need more ethnicities.

CSUCI biggest downfall is student life. It pushes extremely hard to get students involved with organizations and sports club but since the campus is dominated by commuter students, many show up to campus and leave immediately for work/'better things to do'. The new opening of the Student Union Building is improving the 'community feel' of the campus. It hosts several events, but the school can't always get its students excited about the event which ultimately creates a blant atmosphere for the event as well as campus atmosphere.

Mark

The worst thing about my school are the furloughs. The CSU's raised their fees just like the UC's did but not NEARLY as much. Instead, they had to institute furloughs. The school did not try and pass on the overwhelming budget cuts to the student's in a form of fee's which is good because I am struggling so much just paying for regular tuition. Furloughs are bad for teachers, staff, and cut into students education. I can not blame the school for their budget shortfall but it is sad to have fewer days in the classroom.

Camille

Again, I really love my school and don't think that I could have picked a campus better suited for me. The grounds are beautiful, the teachers are helpful, well-rounded and knowledgable, and my classmates are respectful and intelligent. I honestly don't have anything bad to say about CSUCI.

Kaytie

The social network is too small.

nicole

-not enough classes or times to pick from. -need more social events -need more sports teams

Jeannean

I consider the worst thing at my school to be the fact that there aren't any competitive sports where we go and play against other small schools near by like Cal Lutheren and so on.

Krista

The activity programming isn't always very convenient for students who live off-campus, and it's a mainly commuter school. The food in the caf is way over-priced, too, if you don't live on campus and have a meal card.

Christine

The lack of funding available for faculty especially in my major (nursing). There is an increased need for nursing faculty; however, due to funding and the lack of financial gain in being a nursing faculty, there is not a good amount of nurses able to teach. I have found that our teachers are teaching numerous classes all at once and I think that hinders them from being able to teach effectively.

Sarah

That it's a commuter school, no one stays here on the weekends, no sports, no frats or parties at all, the school is in the ghetto, its all rich people.

Valerie

It was fairly new so there were not as much "campus" life compared to other schools
