I am a freshman at Canisius and it seems to be a great school especially in the Western New York Area. If you apply yourself, you could do great things within the college, just like any other. The library is really nice and the Subway and Tim Hortons are convenient even though they're terribly slow. I recommend bringing your own food to save money. The only thing really bad is the location of the college because it's right in the middle of a really bad neighborhood, which most people wouldn't know if they're not from the Buffalo area. Don't walk alone at night because you might get mugged, or worse.
Canisius is a great college. It is homely in the city of Buffalo. It has small classroom sizes that are perfect for student-professor relations. We are fairly liberal, but what college campus is not? I am an accounting major and our accounting program is one of the best in the nation. I love it and recommend it to any accounting student.
If you are looking for a school completely dedicated to not just your academic successes but your overall success in general, Canisius is the place for you. We stress the concept known as "Cura Personalis" which is Latin for self-care. Cura Personalis is a characteristic of Jesuit education (we are a Catholic College) that focuses on the individual attention given to the development and welfare of each of the students in the schools. This includes your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well being. This is reflected in our smaller class sizes; student to professor ratio is 11:1 as well as our Griff Center which provides any type of assistance you need whether it be academic or not. Though certain people may shy away from Religious / Jesuit education, Canisius is very non-discriminatory and although the religious presence is apparent, it is not overbearing or "in your face" so to speak. You should come check us out! It's great to be a Griff!
It is a brisk winter morning and you leave your apartment eager to get to class. You are greeted by fellow students, faculty, and the Jesuits as you cross paths in the common areas. Canisius is like home; where you always feel safe and welcomed.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Canisius College is 77%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
Get involved as much as possible on campus but don't forget that academics are your main priority.
Someone who values community service and who is looking for a mid sized school. It is a comfortable environment and is great for anyone looking to study abroad.
Canisius College is a wealhy, snobby school with great classes and professors, but a bad social scene.
Canisius is known for its excellent Business program at the bachelor and master levels. Many foreign students come for the International Business Program. It also attracts many Education majors as well as Accounting majors, etc. They are not definicient in the Humanities, with strong English and History programs as well.
I wish I had realized how truly expensive this school is. Besides the tuitition, every extra little thing costs money. After enrolling in a class there is an out of pocket $100 lab fee, and extra expenses for any required trips.
The worst thing about this school, is I feel there is too much expected out of us, and the smaller classes we have.
My classmates are very eager to learn. When things get tough they aren't afraid to ask for help.
The best thing about Canisius College would be its small classes and intimate campus.
A person who doesn't have excellent study habits and time management skills should not attend Canisius because it's a very demanding college and you will get alot of homework. That being said, the work will pay off because you will sharpen your critical thinking skills, writing and research skills and all the other transferable skills that make you marketable no matter what your college major. If you hate writing papers, you will not like Canisius - I had to write a paper for a math class! But my writing dramatically improved in four years.
It is right in the middle of the city.
It is very well known in the area and has a large history.
I was working as a freelance writer for The Buffalo News on spec as a recent college graduate. When I submitted my first special to the news piece, the editors fiipped out because they couldn't believe how good it was. When they asked where I graduated, I said "Canisius College." They responded, "Oh, that explains alot. Canisius grads always stand out."
