Central Michigan University is a nice school depending on what you major is. If you are going to be a teach this is an excellent school, but if you are like me going for psychology this is not the best school. I feel like they do not take Psychology serious enough because you need very little credits for the major and there is not really any extra things going on here for that. Also it is good if you are going to be an actor or an anchor because they have a Broadcasting and Cinematic Arts major which a lot of other schools do not have.
Central Michigan University is a school for people who are passionate, with a fire in their hearts for what they love. It's a place for people who want to "put their stamp on the world", and ultimately, it's a place where you discover your future, true self, and your path forward. CMU is a community where we make lifelong connections and share an unmatched spirit and pride in the Chippewa name. For myself and 27,000 others, Central Michigan University is our home, and we wouldn't want it any other way.
I know that CMU is a good school, they have a great education, lots of clubs, internship opportunities, and events. I personally have not enjoyed my time here because of some inner, mental problems going on. But also my social life, or lack thereof, has not made me happy. Trying to find friends who don't live around you that don't constantly party was a little hard for me, but also my own issues made that hard ass well. Because I come from a huge suburb near a large city, I also couldn't bear the life outside of campus, it's extremely barren beyond campus in comparison to what I'm used to. This was not something I knew would bother me before, but now I know it is a deal breaker. Overall CMU is a good school, but for me personally, not a great one.
Central Michigan University is a great school for students who look for stimulating academics, close-knit social life, and fun sporting events. The academics are challenging and are molded to your particular passions and interests. The school size isn't too big or too small, making the social life built over the time spent at CMU very personable and comforting. Lastly, sports are a major part of the life of a CMU student. Attending various sporting events is fun and a great way to support the school, plus students get in free! Overall, CMU is the perfect place for me, fire up Chips!
Central Michigan is a great place. It is big enough but has a small campus feel to it. It takes me about 5-10 minutes to get to my classes. People are nice here, the professors are here to help just make sure you take advantage of their office hours.
I love the college but I feel like it still needs a lot of improvement compared to others I have seen. It’s a little behind it’s time in acedemics and the teachers are too tough to be helpful. It’s definitely a party school which explains some of these lacking things but overall they need to focus more on acedemics and making sure content is actually understood.
I think that Central Michigan University is a good school if you are going into Education, meteorology, or biological sciences. From what I have heard, they. have really good programs and classes for these three majors. I think the food served in the dining halls could definitely be improved, but it is not awful!
I grew up in Mount Pleasant were Central Michigan University is located, and now living on campus it's a whole different world. I'm very active in differ clubs and His House Christian Fellowship church, I've made amazing friends and career connections. I loved growing up in Mount Pleasant and now love it even more as a college student.
The global campus was the reason I enrolled and I have loved every minute of it!
As a transfer student in their third year of college and first year at CMU, I have been extremely impressed. The advisors and professors are very friendly and helpful. The first thing I noticed was how involved the school was in order to get me up to speed whereas at my last college I felt lost and on my own. There is always staff available and people to answer questions one may have. I am pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere I receive on and off campus. I'm glad I chose to transfer to CMU this fall.
Personally, Central Michigan University is an amazing college. There are so many inclusive activities and clubs throughout the year and in different programs that get students introduced to others with similar interests. In terms of the academics, there is a decent variety to choose from and all of the classes I have taken, from the easiest to hardest, have given me something valuable to walk away with. CMU is a home away from home.
CMU has been great to me. I was brought here by the Centralis Honors Scholar program which is the full ride competitive merit scholarship program CMU offers. With this scholarship, I have participated in many unique experiences at very little cost to me including studying abroad in Seoul, South Korea. The school also has one of the US's best alternative breaks program with which I will be spending my spring break this year. As far as academic programs are considered, the best are probably anything at all in the College of Business and anything related to biosciences. The size of the campus is just big enough to provide resources (like the Capital City Internship Program which buses students on Tuesdays and Thursdays to Lansing to work in the capitol) and small enough that you will still get to know your professors. The average class size is 20:1 and I have often had classes with only 8-12 students.
The school seems to meet my expectations for what college in a university would be like. I have met many different people and have gotten the chance to know some very cool professors. the school has proven to be a good school for me and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a college to attend.
The classes are a smaller size which is great for better communication with the professors. Drugs and drinking are a big issue on campus that is also well resolved by the campus police and student board that decides the consequences for the actions the students choose to do. The food is absolutely amazing in all the cafes and there is something for everyone and meets all health needs. The food is rather expensive though because of its high quality. It is very easy to maneuver around the campus on a bike or by walking. There are many opportunities to get involved by living in a hall, playing sports, joining clubs or Greek life.
The atmosphere is great. Students are welcoming and you can usually find a good RSO or group to join for extracurricular activities. There are a bunch of fraternities and sororities to join as well, if you want to be part of greek life. Sports are super fun to attend: between basketball, football, hockey, wrestling, baseball, volleyball, and others, you can't go wrong!
In just a few weeks I have come to enjoy and be pleased with the way Central Michigan has treated me. I believe that there is something for everyone on campus and if not it is not hard for you to be able to find a group of people that that enjoy as much as you.
There is a good atmosphere. Honors program is good.
CMU is a wonderful school. Professors are great, the people are friendly and the university is a good size. The school is not to big, but not to small. Walks are beautiful in the fall and weekends are always fun! I believe CMU is a great school for just about anyone.
Central Michigan University is a really great school- I love it here! The campus is a perfect size because it's not too big, but it's not too small! The buildings are nice and currently being updated. The biology department is amazing and are so incredibly helpful to everyone!
It's a great campus. Plenty of things to do, good food, and multiple sources of academic assistance. It's not too big of a campus either, so going from one end to the other only takes about 15 minutes by foot. I would highly recommend attending CMU over other colleges.
Central Michigan University is an incredibly welcoming community that draws people from all walks of life. Even though CMU does not have a large amount of minorities, the university makes it a point to make the community that is CMU open to discussions on race, religion, sexuality, etc to help students gain understanding, respect, and regard for their fellow peers. Central Michigan University has a diverse group of academic programs that range from Fashion Design, and Recreational Management to Biochemistry. Granted, the university could stand to get rid of some professors here or there. However, you will more than likely find a few gems in every department. CMU also provides their students with plenty of opportunities to improve themselves, whether it be personally or professionally. These range from internships and research opportunities to giving access to nutrition facts for on campus food services, exercise facilities, and physical and mental health centers. Overall, if you are a college student and want to be involved with something(s) greater than yourself, CMU is where you need to be.
Central was my first option for college because I receive a tuition waiver from my mom working on campus. After going to school at Central for a year it has grown on me and become much more charming. The campus is a decent size it is small enough the you can walk everywhere but also big enough that it doesn't seem cramped. Most class sizes are similar to high school classes making it easier to make friends and get to know your professors. The professors for the most part are very friendly, helpful, and easy to get along with.
I love the atmosphere here. There are so many people to know and so many activities to partake in. The parking is cheap and there are always spots available. All of the dorms are really nice to live in and it's not hard to get one you want. The food is great and the classes are almost always interesting. 10/10 would recommend.
Central Michigan University is a very welcoming and inclusive institution that strives to push students to be the best people they can be, both inside and outside the classroom. Class sizes range from 20 to 150 students and professors are always more than happy to help. Professors are usually easy to reach out to in class, during office hours, and by email. Campus is very safe and feels like home with blue safe lights around campus and SafeRides, a free shuttle for students throughout the night. CMU has many diverse and up-to-date facilities on campus including the Park Library, Student Activities Center, and Finch Field House where an indoor rock climbing wall is located. Most of these facilities are free to charge to students, this includes any sports game, as well! Students can find their niche here at Central whether it is in a student organization, sorority or fraternity, or intramural league. Central Michigan University was not even on my radar when I was looking at colleges, but after one visit, I knew I found my new home.
The people are what drew me there when I was deciding where to go after high school. Everyone is energetic, friendly, and helpful! When I was there people tried to make connections; it felt like family. I enjoy it so much I am trying to stay there for graduate school!
I have made some of my best friends there and I have been able to earn a solid education as well. The professors and advisers are willing to help and guide you if you reach out. I would like the town to have more things to do, but you can find ways to entertain yourself.
It's a nice mid-sized college. It may be on the smaller size of mid-size, but that is perfect for me. Everyone is pretty friendly and come from hard-working families. The food is not bad but it is not the greatest. The professors like to work with students one on one and more often than not, remember your name even. It's a wonderful school to attend and no real negatives.
I think Central Michigan University is a great school. It was a big transition personally for me because I am a city kid so it was odd moving to a very small and rural city. The campus facilities are really nice, all of the campus building are within walking range and easy to find. The students are really nice, someone will usually offer to help you if you look lost. My biggest advice is to check out the campus or stay with a friend on a campus. Just to get the experience of what it would be like to live in that environment. It is also important to trust your gut when it comes to checking out a school, depend on your likes and dislikes because at the end of the day, it your education that is at hand.
I have visited the school many times. My twin brother is currently enrolling as a college sophomore. He is very involved with the music programs there and tells me about a lot of the stuff in the university area. Even though it is in Michigan it is in a good part of Michigan not bad so there is no reason to not apply there.
CMU really cares about its students and faculty. They offer free admission to sporting events and discounted and general admission prices for concerts and other events. The Academic Environment is wonderful. There are success coaches, counselors, and health professionals located around campus. CMU has pride in everything they do, everywhere they go. FIRE UP CHIPS!
Central Michigan University is an amazing place. I have made some of my best friends that I've ever had at this campus. Classes are hard but not too hard. I can honestly say this is home to me. Most weekends I like the spend on campus. It's also such unique experiences such as Leadership Safari. I encourage all incoming freshmen to take advantage of this program. I hope to soon be a part of the staff for the years to come. Fire Up Chips!
Central Michigan University is one of not many colleges that has an open and welcoming atmosphere. Whenever you walk around, there will be someone to speak and give you a warm smile. There's always someone around whether it be a student or faculty to help you if you're visiting or a student in need. Their Leadership Safari and IMPACT programs are unimaginable because they're filled with fun, learning, activities, motivational speakers, and designed to teach students more about the campus and their future at Central Michigan. Central Michigan University is one of the most supportive schools there is.
A great school with helpful staff who really want to do whatever they can to help you succeed. Students are very welcoming and friendly and there is always something going on. A wide variety of classes are offered to fit almost all goals and plans for the future.
My first time visiting it instantly felt like home and I knew it was the school for me. The main issue I have with the campus is that there isn't a lot to do in the surrounding area. There aren't that many things to do that are close by. In my experience I have had to drive an hour or more to get to fun places to hang out. I also have an issue with parking paying for parking is a main inconvenience for college students. I don't think it's fair for Central to make students pay for parking when we already pay for parking permits and tuition is expensive as well.
Central was my first school choice and I have not regretted my decision since. It is honestly my home away from home and I love it so much. I do not think I would be this happy attending any other institution. I hope more people are encouraged to attend as well.
Overall, Central is a nice campus. I like in the towers and I feel just fine in my dorm room with the three other girls I share with. However, unlike many people here, I don't feel at home, or particularly welcome. In my understanding, you need to absolutely fall in love with this campus when you first come or you won't at all. I thought it would grow on me, but it truly hasn't. All the professors I have had here are spectacular, but I guess I am not always a huge fan of the class sizes. It's been tough for me to be here. However, as I mentioned before, the people that do fall in love with this campus when they first visit, it will stay that way. I have had some other friends here that bleed maroon and gold, and are constantly screaming FIRE UP CHIPS!!
I have recently completed my first year at Central and am preparing to enter my second. From my freshman year alone, I have noticed that everyone I encountered is great, the professors are extremely helpful, and your only opportunity to fail would be if you put in absolutely no effort. There are tons of campus resources aside from your friends and professors, and Mt. Pleasant has a lot to offer outside of class. Central is the perfect hub for the college experience, both socially and academically.
I absolutely love this school with all my heart, and can not wait to attend in the fall! From the people, there to the classes offered, central Michigan University has everything I could ever want or need in a school. Every passion I have thought of pursuing in the last four year, they offer a degree in. I can’t wait to be apart of it all!
Central Michigan University is university that is located in Mount Pleasant. My major is Mechanical Engineering and the establishment has allowed me to grow as a person with their faculty. The university is small enough such that the professors know you by name and become a valuable resource for future reference. My personal overall opinion on Central Michigan is positive and anyone that attends here can find success.
Central Michigan is a great school academically and they are very encouraging with getting involved on campus. The campus is very nice but does have a dark cloud over it after the recent school shooter fiasco. I know a lot of students are still struggling to feel safe on campus. Other than that CMU is a great school and I would recommend it to students looking for a campus you can get involved in without being lost in the crowd.
I love going to Central Michigan University. It is a very community oriented campus. Everybody you meet is very nice and friendly. Also there is always something to do for everyone. No matter who you are there is always a way to get involved on campus and that is really what Central Michigan emphasizes.
Central Michigan University made me feel like a part of their community the moment I ever stepped foot on their campus. There's always students, professors, and faculty who are willing to help you, or even just greet you with a smile and make you feel welcomed. The family feel really makes me proud to be a Chip!
I n the short time I have been at Central Michigan University,I have grown to think of it as a home. I have never been in a place with friendlier staff and students. People will hold open doors for you and ask you about your day. I have never been happier.
I love Central Michigan University. I wouldn't want to spend my four year Bachelor degree anywhere else. The facilities are beautiful, teachers are easily accessible, student body groups are easily found, and the class sizes are small. Fire up chips!
Just love it...It was everything I had expected and more. From the moment I attended a general information session 2 years before I attended, I just couldnt wait. CMU has not disappointed. Great campus life, safe environment in a great academic setting. What more could you ask for.
Central Michigan University has a lot of resources that are available. There are multiple clubs, teams, and other things to get involved in and the staff highly recommends it.
The staff is very friendly and always there if you need it. The dorms are very nice and somewhat spacious. Overall, it's a great university.
CMU is a great school and I like going here. there are a lot of great opportunities that I am taking advantage of here. I really enjoy the research lab that I have the opportunity to be involved with and I like that at CMU, there is space for undergrads to participate in research.
Going to Central Michigan Education is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I love how they are there to help you if you need advice in anything. At CMU there is always ways to get involved in campus life and in the communities around you. The sporting events are also really fun to go to and you will meet a lot of great people at CMU!
I have enjoyed by experience at Central Michigan University. Academics are a priority as well as preparing students to enter the work force after graduation. I have enjoyed having an education from a university that allows me to take classes to work around my own schedule, and keeps me up to date on requirements I must complete to graduate on time. Great overall experience!
I love CMU. The atmosphere is perfect. Everyone has so much school spirit everywhere you go. There are also so many opportunities to get involved with pretty much anything you want to do. The professors I have had so far I have had good experiences with. FIRE UP CHIPS!
I think that it’s a pretty decent school, but I think that if you’re a minority student you might be more comfortable at another college, there have been many racial issues on this campus, I’m speaking from my own experiences. It can be uncomfortable to adapt and adjust being away from home and on a pwcampus
