Not to my knowledge.
No
Yes
Not completely.
No, while acceptance is more lax, and perhaps "dumber" students do get in, the majority of those that perhpas wouldn't have been accepted elsewhere end up dropping out. In other words, they meet the admission requirements, but not the requirements to be able to stay. The students that make it through CMU, and ultimatley graduate are of equal quality to other institutions.
Not necessarily. Many of our students here like to party, but not all. And though this is a last resort for some, many actually plan on going to this school because of its expertise in fields such as Psychology and Education.
To a certain extent, but there is a group of people that dont need to drink
In some cases yes...
For many, yes, but we also study and learn.
yes, we are not diverse
No, I work very hard at all of my academics and extracurriculars.
no
I believe every school is a party school and I also believe that we are competitive, but in a good way.
They drink as much as other students at other universities.
No.
No they are not!!!
They can be.
Some yes, for example; we are kind of located in the middle of nowhere, there are lots of parties held whether it is by a fraternity or by friends there is always a party to go to.
Yes, to me these stereotypes are accurate. It's not a big town compared to where I'm from (the Detroit area) and all people, at least the people I am friends with, do for fun and on weekends is drink.
yes
I think students that attend CMU are just as intelligent as those at U of M or MSU. In college, there are those students that chose to drink, and those that don't, I don't think it is any more so at CMU than any other college.
Partying, yes. Student quality, not necessarily. Although MSU and U of M are more selective, many students who could very well be high performers at these institutions choose a smaller, more personal university, such as Central.
Some are...although I think all schools have their party-ers
not at all. i was accepted to other universities with higher requirements but i chose central because of the campus and the program i'm interested in.
nah not at all it is a very nice wholesome school i love it
No. I personally chose to come here because it was one of the best teaching programs in the nation.
It really depends. I'm sure a lot of college campus's have parties.
Somewhat
No, i think that there are other schools that party more. I also think that we have a good academic program
For alot of people yes.
partially, we are still good students and not everyone drinks
I don't feel that they are.
No. We do know how to have fun, but we work hard and play harder. I used to think that Greeks were sterotypical also, until I went greek and found out that there are so many things that we do sometimes we don't even have time to go party. We really help out the community with service projects and volunteering. Greeks also are encouraged to do well in school in order to particpiate in greek events.
NO! At any college you go to, there are obviously going to be a select group of students who are just there to party, but it's not fair to generalize the entire school as being that way.
No. I mean yea we party but so does every other university. We have decent academics and personally I know many students who choose Central over state or michigan.
No. A lot of CMU students enjoy the smaller feel of Mt. Pleasant and Central's campus. As a transfer student from MSU I don't find the curriculum any less difficult.
I don't believe it is the way it used to be 10 years ago. I feel that we are not the biggest party school in Michigan anymore.
No, they aren't because there is always something to do in Mt. Pleasant.
some of them are. it is just as much of a party school as any other college in michigan. it is easier to get into than msu, u of m, etc but just as easy as western or eastern. it is a good school for education majors.
Every college has their partying but I do not think that it is what all of Central is about. It does have a very good teaching program, I had several teachers in high school who graduated from here.
