Chaminade University definitely isn't up there with the big-name schools, and it shows every once in a while. Despite the positives of the family-feel, diversity and tolerance, some degree programs aren't worth picking this particular school for. There are a few degree programs that are simply incredible, especially given the family-like qualities of the school, but many programs don't seem to cut it for a lot of people. I'm an Elementary Education major and my roommate is Forensic Science and we're both happy, but many others are not.
Chaminade University of Honolulu is an amazing school though if I were to change anything it would be their website. I've attended other colleges before transferring over and I find it confusing navigating their website. I constantly feel like I'm going on a hunt to find anything. For example, the navigation tools to search for classes or grades are located on the bottom right of the page. We generally read from left to right and it would be convenient if it was located on the top left hand corner so it's the first thing the user sees.
There are several things that I consider the worst things about Chaminade. One of them will be the tuition fee, despite it being a private school, I think the school should provide more scholarship opportunities for student. Another worst thing about the school is parking. I think that parking should be complimentary to all students.
What I consider the worst thing about my school is that it is located on a hill. It gets very tiring from walking all the way up and down to the dorms and the parking lot. Another thing that I consider worst about my school is that there are only 3 buildings for most of the main classes. I wish that there were more.
I would say since Chaminade is a diverse University then people share different cultures and lifestyle.... It's not the worst thing, although just the weakness of not understanding other students from different cultures.... there is no worst thing about the school though...
The worst thing about Chaminade is sadly it's sizes, becuase it's such a small school there aren't as many majors or classes offered in which case you'd have to take other courses that truly interest you at another school such as UH (University of Hawaii).
The worst part about my school would probably have to be a select group of people that think that they own the entire school but they really do not and slowly this group is being dispersed and separated.
Financial Aid. The process of the Financial aid checks distributed after one week of instruction. Some students become financially strapped with rent, books and other necessities.
I cannot say I had a bad experience at Chaminade, because I did not. The worst part about graduating from Chaminade is that I had to leave Hawaii.
Residence Life. Dorms are over expensive and the staff is not quite helpful.
