What are your classes like?

Chelsey

Although there were quite a few general education classes that were not always my favorite, ie math, there were more classes I loved than didn't. Each class was intimate when necessary, or allowed for more when necessary. For example, my public speaking class had 100 people, but the point of public speaking is to be comfortable in front of lots of people so it made sense. I had many of the same teachers more than once, and was able to get into their classes with ease. Grading was always fair and I never had any issues with teachers.

Classes are either m,w,f 50 minutes, t,th 1 hour 15 minutes, or 2 hour 40 minutes one day a week. The majority are discussion based. Many classes you are allowed to bring your laptop to take notes on. Professors usually lecture using powerpoint, some upload it online, others don't. Many of the professors take attendance, although you can usually miss 1 or 2 classes without any effect.

This semester, I was really lucky with my classes. I am a communication major, but am minoring in English and psychology. Therefore, i am able to take a variety of classes each semester. I am taking three communication classes, and greatly enjoy two of them. Although I am a junior, I am not sure what I am going to do with this major. I feel like my classes are truly setting me up for the real world. I am also taking Business Writing, which is obnoxiously easy, but shockingly informative. I have learned so much about the business world, and am feeling more prepared to write e-mails for a job, or turn in my resume to an internship. My final class is a psychology class. It is the most fun, interesting class I have ever been in. We learn so much about the human mind and how to keep it happy. Yet we are also required to do important assignments, such as writing a letter of gratitude and journaling twice a week. I feel like all of my classes are trying to make my life better, to ensure I get the most out of my college experience, and to prepare me for the real world once I leave Chapman.
