I decided to go to this school because it had a great Athletic Training Program. It was also away from home and that is an experience that you must get if you lived at home all your life. Chapman also gave a lot of scholarship and grant money which made it possible for me to attend here. They also are a private school, which means that they wont lose money or tuition wont go up just based on the California economy
I was accepted to Chapman and offered a Chancellor's scholarship. Before I decided to accept, I asked a friend attending Chapman if I could shadow her for 24 hours to see what the classes and campus life was like. I sat in on her Jewish Bible Studies class, which is normally a subject I would have little interest in. The professor was a colorful character: he spoke with energy and determination in his eyes as he stated that we as students, didn't have to end up like Jonah and the whale; we were capable of choosing our own destinies. Then he pulled up on a music website The Flobots' single Handlebars to emphasize his point. I really liked his passion in the subject and how he was able to make it engaging for students to listen, participate, and enjoy.
I decided to go to Chapman for a number of reasons. My grandma lives in Newport Beach, so I can visit her on a regular basis. In addition I really love the area, with so many things to do, and I have to admit I was thrilled to get a season pass to Disneyland. I loved Chapman's personal approach to education, with small class sizes and more discussion based classes. The weather is so nice down here. It doesn't get too hot or too cold. It is almost always nicer weather when compared to the majority of other places. Many people had told me that their academic program was really good, with top quality professors from some of the best schools. The campus is also just beautiful, and once I took a tour and spent some time walking around I knew it was the campus for me. Downtown is so adorable, with the perfect cupcakery, and all the other little eateries. I just thought that Chapman was an all around good match for me. I came in as a vocal performance major, which Chapman excels at, and knew if I changed my major, the academics would support my standards. (I did change my major, I knew I couldn't do it for a career, Chapman's program is still amazing though) (Chapman let's you change your major and minor very easy!)
Living in Colorado all my life, I grew tired of being cold. I wanted to move to California for a change of pace. I chose Chapman because I loved the beautiful campus, the proximity to the beach, and the great reputation. Chapman also gave me a great scholarship. It was a good choice.
