Charleston Southern University Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I would have known that being myself is perfectly okay. People come into college every year thinking they can change who they are and start a completely different life. Believe me, I tried. Charleston Southern is a Baptist College, and that means almost everyone here is extremeley religious. Unfortunately, I was confused about religion at first and I thought if I pretended to be into it I would fit in. Truth is, everyone is here to help. You will never go confused on this campus, and its okay to be confused. But be yourself.

I wish I knew about more options for getting financial aid before I got to Charleston Southern University. I'm so excited about getting an education! However, when you know you have a balance to pay and no job or car and you are an out of state student with parents who are struggling to pay the bills due to being hit with a job loss, it makes it stressful because you feel like a burden on them while you are off trying to make a better future. But it will be for he greater good in the future.

I wish I would have known about the campus life itself. It is dead on campus during the weekends. I also would have liked to know how hard it is to keep a 3.0 average. Also I would have liked to know that I would eventually tear my ACL and not be able to play basketball for a year.
