Chicago State University Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Right now I am most frustrated with the lack of financial assistance the provide.

The most frustrating part about my school is evident in the amount of funding the school gets from the state. Teachers here make less here than junior college teachers, and parts of the campus are rundown and continually under construction. The staff, advisors, and teachers are all friendly but there is only so much they can do if they are being limited by the environment. Evidence of this can be seen in the poor quality of building infastructure as well as poor internet quality.

The lack of cultural diversity. This school is primarily populated with African American students. Too much of one thing is not always a good thing.

I am in a relatively newer curriculum so the advising is not as on point as I would like for it to be.

This is my first semester, so I have no problems.

The most frustrating thing is their finance office.

The students arew constantly given the run around! There's not much help at all for the students and no one seems to care, or know what they're talking about.

The most frustrating thing about my school would have to be that some of the faculty are there to just recieve a pay check. And not really for the students interested in the students trying to get an education.

Financial aid gives me too much run around. It seems the school is trying to make it impossible for you to attend classes.

The run-around with financial aid, bursar, registrar... there's so much run around and there doesn't seem to be a system of accountability. The only thing students are expected to do is deal with the frustration with a smile, of course.

Almost every professor I have had here has been way too lenient in grading or has offered ridiculous amounts of extra credit, letting students earn grades they don't truly deserve and devaluing the quality of education. The department of engineering exists only to prepare students to transfer to other schools will full engineering curricula, and though I've earned an A in every course I have taken here (even despite the extra credit) I am worried that I have been lulled into a false sense of security in the transferable courses I have taken.
