If I could go back in time and talk to my younger self, I would tell Allison that it is okay to be alone sometimes. I would tell myself that sometimes your goals are not the same as everyone else's. I would assure myself that if i really want something, then sometimes you have to stand alone and work hard by yourself to get it. I would not allow my younger self to dwell on the past and what I do not have because I know that once my hard work is done, life will reward me.

Although teachers and administration explained the importance of taking advantage of any scholarship I did not take it into consideration. If I was able to go back and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would surely emphasize how hard it is in college without the right funding. One thing I would tell myself is to use my free time wisely and try to get as much money as possible with scholarships. There are so many out there that could benefit me if I would have taken the time to complete more scholarships. I am in college on a payment plan that is about $1,500 a month every month. Currently, I am behind on my payments and it has caused the university to put a hold on my account and restricts me from creating a schedule for next semester and releasing my transcripts. This is causing me to be very stressed out! With finals around the corner, family problems and my social life, I have found myself breaking down because it has gotten so hard for me to do things on my own.

If I were granted the opportunity to go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would tell myself to seriously look up these schools and know what they offer; read commentary from current students and or/ graduate students and see what they said about the institution. I would also tell myself to really think about what my major would really be because sometimes it can change based on how well the professors, in that field, teach the subject. Here is an important tip I would tell myself: Starting out as a Freshman, take every class serious, get to know your professors, make connections, and just enjoy yourself. If you do what you are suppose to do in class, your grades will positively reflect your learning. Transitioning from being a senior to college freshman life has been an intimidating experience. If I could return back in time, I would tell my senior self several things that would help to prepare for the mental, academic and financial challenges that as a high school student I took for granted. When addressing the mental challenges, I would tell myself to stress less, manage my time more efficiently and prioritize. With academics, I would tell my senior self that having better study skills and not procrastinating on important assignments is critical, because you can't do your best when waiting till the last minute. Financially, I would tell myself that saving money and applying for scholarships would have been smart so that paying for college would be easier for me and my single mom. Finally, I would tell myself that spending money wisely is very important because its the ultimate means of survival. When realizing that it is timeindependent and knowing the struggles that I will face I ultimately have a different outlook on life. I would start and say that it is totally different from high school. The teachers care still but, they will not remind you that u have assignments due or ask you where are they if you didn't turn it in. If I could go back in time to give myself advice as a high school senior, I would tell myself to START SEARCHING EARLY!! I feel like I waited too long to fill out college applications and search for what I want because now I'm kind of in a dilemma. I would fill out scholarships way ahead of time. Also, save time to research and look for the right college for me. I'm now not as positive about the college I will be attending and I wish I had some more time to look for what I want. I would tell my highschool-self to be sure to make friends at college. Having friends at school makes it seem more like a family and I feel much more responsible for my schoolwork then. Ideas are definitely clearer when I get to reflect them off others and hear how other people understand their schoolwork. One way to make friends at college would be to join or form study groups. Study groups were abundant, stable, and reliable at my community college. Clubs at my community college also had many motivated, smart, and nice students. A third way I would make friends would be to be more active in the free tutoring center at school. The tutoring center is full of students who are earnestly trying to learn and student tutors who are trying to help students learn as well. One situation in which I wish I had more friends was a certain semester at college when I had 17 total credits of math, physics, and chemistry. If I had friends who would encourage me and back me up through this tough semester I feel I would have had a much less stressful time studying for school.

College is a mix of the busiest and most relaxed times of your life. Make a plan to take advantage of both. Balance class time by taking fewer credits in the fall/spring but commit to 1-2 summer classes to keep an on-time graduation. I took 16-18 credits and ended up bogged down with work and studying so much that I missed opportunities making memories with friends. If you need a “filler” class, do not just grab something easy. Credits are too expensive to throw away. Consider grabbing a fitness instructor course that could earn you a healthy part-time job. When in doubt, add foreign language. Take it seriously and it will be invaluable in any job market. You don’t have to sit in the front of class and raise your hand. In courses for your major, get noticed. You need those professors to write letters of recommendation later. But you don’t need to exert that high energy in every class – you will burn out. As an incoming freshman you are not educated about key factors such as tuitiona and fees, houseing, and how to manage your time effectively. If i could go back to my senior year and give my self advice i would push myself to have an open mind about my college of choice and to apply for more than one school as a back up. I did not research the school as well as i should have and I did not give much thought to the money i would be paying yearly to attend this school. I would also advise myself to start looking at scholarships earlier so i would not have a problem with dead lines. Its hard to pay for college and going into your freshman year or any year with only loans is a bad decision because it will affect you negatively in your future. I hope ill make a better decision next time around.

The advice I would give myself would be to cherish every single moment in high school. There were a few times I could have put forward more effort in a few classes, and now that I realize how serious college is I wish I had done better in my high school classes. I would spent more time preparing for college and for my future versus just assuming that college is just like high school, because it's not. Maturation is essential. When going to college you will be diving into the world of adulthood. You may be going to school, working a part time job, and paying a cell phone bill now. However, when you attend college you be responsible for making sure your financial aid is in order, so you can have housing and food. Every day in college I am reminded of what I could have done in high school to make college a lot easier. I see students on campus who are three to four years younger than I am, completely the same courses I am. If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would tell myself the struggles and expenses of college, and how much easier the process is when starting early. My advice would be to take dual-enrollment courses with what time is remaining in high school, and actually participate in high school. Now for the first time in my life, in college I am an honor student in my education and with this I can see how wonderful the success feels without any dismay; I would want myself to have this same feeling before graduating high school and moving on the college.

I would tell myself NOT to take a year off between high school and collage because you will never go. Life will get in the way, you will be a single mom of 2 kids so you will find reasons not to go but most important...if you dont go you will be working in a factory that you go nowhere in.

Firstly, I would change my reading habits, draw closer to my proffessors and make them my best friends. With my experience in college, professors appreciate students who are hard working and and always come to them to ask questions. They even often grow more interest in those srudents, beacuse those are the students who challenge them and show more interest in there work. Another thing i would advice my self , is to change my reading habits rather than staying to the last minute to study for exams and quizes, I would have a mastery each topic i was thought in class. Due to my learning experience, I have discovered that if i study one topic a day, I would be more successful as a student and I would do better in quizes and exams. Secondly, i would engage myself in extra curricular activities. curricular activities are of great importance, but many students tend to ignore this aspect when passing through school. I would rather engage myself, let the school pass through me, instead of just graduating and not engaging in any kind of civic engagement. later on, this are the kinds of things needed for letters of recomendation.

During these 4 years I have been in college I have endured a lot of things. If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would first tell myself to first apply for as many scholarships as you can, because you don’t want to get stuck with thousands of dollars in student loans. If there comes a time when you do have to take out a loan only use it when you really need it. The course work you will endure in college will be rigorous but just remember to study hard and never give up. College itself is very active. It’s a lot that goes on so it is very easy to get distracted so make sure you stay focus. It’s alright to have a little fun every now and then but stay on top of our studies and remember why you are there. In addition to that never give into the peer pressure, spend your money wisely, get involved around campus, and don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone and try new things. I would tell myself to take into consideration the cost of all colleges even though mom told you not to worry. I would say to always chase your dreams regardless of how far they seem. I would say to remember your plan and follow your heart regardless of how crazy they sound. Make sure that you give everything your all and leave no doubt in your mind that you've done everything possible to reach your dream. College is a lot more freedom than you expect and remember to maintain your moral standards.

There is a lot of advice I would give to my 7th grade self as opposed to my 12th grade self. My first piece of advice would be to tell my 12th grade self to "Stop goofing off in school; this is it. This is the time to get your act together and start earning A's. You have been blessed with going to an IB school and you should take advantage of it, because if you don't you'll go to a Community College for 1 1/2 years then join the military for 5 years, accomplishing almost nothing during that time; is that really want you want?... 6 1/2 wasted years?" My second piece of advice is to tell myself to "drop those so called friends of yours because after high school ends you'll never talk to or see them again, and while you're at it, delete facebook because it's all just a waste of time." My final piece of advice is to tell myself what classes to take because before I took classes with no direction and now those same classes don't count for the degree I want now.

Don't rush...Think about other alternatives before starting college. A tutor perhaps or Starting off at a 2 year college if not sure about your future or not able to afford a 4 year university. Try to raise my garde point average as the school I choose may require a high GPA. Study harder and take high school more seriously.

If I could go back in time into high school I would certainly change my attitude towards my academic work. I am a senior now and get straight A's, but my most important year of high school( Junior year) I slacked off and was only an average student. I woul every better opportunites for getting more scholarships and into a better college. Although this is a huge regret on my part I still don't dwell on it, because I know I am making up for it by getting high honors now. I also take two early college courses that th EC4ME program in Maine pays for, and it is great to get ahead of the gang and start my liberal studies early. I'm also getting goo grades in these two classes. So all in all I'd tell myself to learn to work hard in high school, because it will better your future in the long run even if it doesn't seem that way.

A word of warning: It may seem like you have so much more time now that you’re not in class for 8 hours a day five days a week, but you cannot use those fifteen hours a week in class to do homework. That will take twice as much time on your own time. You won’t want to do homework on Friday night, or on Saturday, or during lunch, but if you don’t do it then you’ll spend every morning before class, sometimes at three in the morning, trying to catch up. There is no such thing as a ten minute assignment in college, and the five-hundred word essay no longer exists. Make the most of those classes, because if you have to leave and start up somewhere else, it’s not fun to have paid for credits you can’t use because you got an Incomplete in the class. You will never have too much time, so utilize every second.

Find out who you are. Find out what you want to do and what it takes to get there. Find out what you cannot and will not do. Find these things and stick to them. Tempation is going knock and it will knock hard, it will knock more than once, way more than once, but it is important that you stay true to yourself. Stop hanging out with the friends I have been hanging out with, focus on school, apply for scholarships, and don't be lazy. I would tell myself to calm down and not be so stressed out about it. Yes college is work but if you're willing to do it, its not that difficult. Plus I'm going to school for culiary arts so its not like I didnt have any idea what I was getting into. I would just tell myself to take some deep breaths and to relax. Also not to pack so much stuff, moving into an apartment takes a long time in the first place, but add way too much stuff into the equasion and you're in for an entire day of lugging stuff up three flights of stairs. College life hasnt really been too difficult for me so I guess the only advice I would have needed would be to relax and be confident in my abilities.

Tom, listen up! You better learn and study all that you can every day. Your future depends upon it. Get help when need it. Especially in math. You know weakest subject is math. Get a tutor. It will pay off in the long run. But most of all, dont be afraid to start college right after you graduate.
