What is your overall opinion of this school?

Clemson is the perfect school. The campus is large enough to feel like a college campus, without being overwhelmingly big. All of the students are all very friendly and close knit. When people hear I go to Clemson, they are always amazed and have great things to say about the school. The school pride and spirit at Clemson are AMAZING. Clemson sports are always a big thing, and the students are always very excited to attend these events. On the weekends, Bowman Field is a great place to play frisbee or volleyball, or just hang out with some friends. Clemson is the perfect place to be, any time of the year.

Describe the students at your school.

Clemson's student body is very diverse, and no student would feel out of place. Clemson offers a wide variety of different clubs and organizations for each and every student. The interactions between students are always very friendly, because everyone has one thing in common - we are all tigers. And based on that one fact, we can all see the good in one another, no matter what.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Yes, I believe these stereotypes are very accurate.

What are the academics like at your school?

The professors at Clemson are awesome! The class sizes are relatively small, so it is very personal and the students aren't just "numbers". I actually look forward to most of my classes! Being a math major, I have had great experiences with the professors in this area. Also, the academic advisors are VERY helpful and easy to talk to. The genuinely care about your education and achieving your goals in order to prepare you for the future.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

One of the more prominent groups on campus at Clemson is FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). FCA meets two times every Tuesday and Thursday, and is open to all students. As an incoming freshman, attending the FCA meetings/social events is a great way to meet other students. It is very exciting to meet new people at the beginning of the semester, and most of the students in the dorms leave their doors open.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Some stereotypes about Clemson include the fact that it is a prestigious school, and that the students are all very spirited and tight knit. The student body is like a giant family, and we are all very excited to be at Clemson all the time.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

The best thing about the Clemson experience is that we are and see ourselves as one big family and the Orange Nation, It's About Pride in which to show the world that we are a family and welcome all that visit or compete here with open arms and want them to leave with a sense of warmth no matter the outcome. Well as a rising senior, I guess I would change nothing really as I have enjoyed my experience and learned so much in and out of the classroom plus been able to grow as an adult even more here. People tend to react very positively when you mention that you attend Clemson, no matter whether you start here or transfer here, and say you must be pretty smart and know what you want, especially when they ask what you are majoring in. The administration here at Clemson is one of the most caring and talented aspects of the college experience that want to see you succeed to your greatest potential and they treat like you an adult and keep you well informed plus they care so much about this university themselves. The school pride here is crazy and overwhelming sometimes but in a good way from the president along to the knowledgeable incoming freshmen, who get to experience it fisrt hand as soon as they step on campus and definitely after some of the huge events that take place here all year.

Describe the students at your school.

Clemson is one of the unique universities in that we are trying to make sure that we are seen as one family, no matter where you come from or what you previous background. The university goes out of there way to educate all students about different cultures and wants students to feel free to express there differences to make this a very understanding and together community and the students for the most part from what I have seen embrace this to the fullest. I do not think that really anybody would feel out of place here unless you were not willing to work hard on your education and you were close minded about people and maybe racist or something like that, we are one big family here. As far as attire to class, it is pretty relaxed and you dress according to your own preferences to some degree or civility and depending upon if you have project presentations or things like that coming up. For the most part, people wear shorts and cooling clothes when it is warm and when the winter months set in then they dress more in a pair of jeans, coats and such to stay warm. Everybody interacts with everybody here on some level but you do have your groups that share similar interest that might hang out more than others but that is just how the world spins but when we come together we come together and there are no lines that can not be crossed over embraced as whether you are in a classroom setting that requires you to interact with someone or the many events that happen here that make you aware of others and you build friendships that last. I would guess that most students are from some part of South Carolina but there are people from all over the nation here as you see people from up north wanting to come down for the warmer weather and family atmosphere or the people from farther south that just found their way here for their own reasons or the people frm out west that ventured here also. This university is competative in many areas that attract many students from all over, not just this state.... that includes places from across the globe. The student body is made up of all types of financial backgrounds and no one seems to dominate more than the other as this is a big public university that makes accommodations for all. Of course students talk about how much they are going to make one day as that is one of the benefits of getting a Clemson education and experiencing the lore of this university because companies recruit us highly and know that you will be well educated once you finish your degree and also well trained, so that is a perk that comes with the diploma and many students want to start planning as their careers start to come into focus but that is not done in a negative way.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

The Clemson experience is on that is hard to describe but easy to experience as we can and try to demonstrate that we are a family and welcome all and no how to have a responsible good time plus work hard in the classroom to leave this place in a better stae than when we got here as we want to make this one of the best experiences of your life and welcome you into the family. RU ORANGE, IT'S ABOUT PRIDE!

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

The stereotype about the country and not being able to compete is not true at all. The other stereotypes are as true as can be and that is the way we see this school, community and the great friends that you will make here whether you start here or transfer in.... we all make this university and care about it greatly along with one another.

What are the academics like at your school?

The academic environment here at Clemson is one of the most unique in the state and very demanding but fun in the same right. The professors make it a priority for the most part to get to know their students and make sure they are on track and understand that they want the students to succeed but they are going to be challenged in more ways than they actually thought. Studying is basically left up to the individual and their field of study but you will find that most people are constantly studying as it is not just competative here but put on a national scale to be one of the best schools in the nation if not the best and we are well known for our engineering and science program here so people are hitting the books hard to continue to be on the forefront of innovation and research. You are encouraged to participate in your classes as it can only benefit in your growth, so it is tied into the professors curricula for the semesters that you are here. The students are constantly talking about all sorts of things that pertain to their majors but also on other intellectual levels also plus we also know how to unwhine and enjoy the unique culture here as the university offers so much to keep the balnce between work and play plus letting you grow as an adult before jumping out there in the real world. The academic requirements here are very strict and yet accommodating to help you learn and benefit from the growing world around us that will allow you to succeed once you leave this university. The great thing that I have noticed about Clemson is that they keep a very special balance between gearing your education towards the goal of finding a fulfilling and challenging job after graduation and learning the material to have a higher sense of knowledge and sense of accomplishment. The academic experience here is unparalled and can make you into a well round person that can balance so many things once you graduate and during your time here.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Well by far the football team is one of the best aspects at Clemson as you can not describe a true Saturday but have to experience it here, especially when we are playing teams like Florida State, Miami, Virginia Tech or other ACC teams. All of the sports here highly regarded though as we compete in the ACC very well. The Clemson experience is not just limited to athletics though as the academic teams and other organizations here on campus plus the greek system are very competative across the nation and farther. The culture is very evident here as there are presentations and performances of all types here throughout the year from bands and groups on the national scene that have concerts going on all over coming to play in our Little John Coliseum to the plays that are put on in the culture center or the orchestras that perform all times of the year. So there is a little something for all types. The dating scene is pretty good here adn people are pretty friendly but careful also. The apartment structures here and near the Clemson campus is extensive and within everybodies price range and many people live both on and off campus as you have that option after your freshman year and can have fun no matter what you like to do. I stay off campus by myself and enjoy it and it is close enough to the campus where I can easily acess the campus either by car, CAT bus system or walking if so wanted. The university sponsers many events that get everbody involved from the on campus tornaments and comedy tours that are sponsored to the many athletic events that take place or culture events that might pop up.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

We are country and stuck in the moo and dairy school that has a hard time competing with the other schools in the country on all levels. We are one of the best schools for engineering and science in the land. We have a big sense of community and look out for each other.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Overall, Clemson seems very nice and I've heard great things about it. I don't start my freshman year until August, but I can still provide a little insight into how the school works. They nickel and dime the crap out of the students. I guess all colleges have application fees, addmission fees, housing application fees, orientation fees and basically every other fee they think of to clean out the wallets and bank accounts of prospective students and their parents. I guess that's just business as usual. Right? I Guess the 17 thousand dollars times the thousands of students attending Clemson just isn't enough because these days, colleges and pretty much all schools are controlled by greedy crooks (a.k.a. business majors). These people need to remember that $1000x$1000=$1,000,000 and that is a lot of money. There is no reason for Clemson or any other college to charge all of these absurd fees. Think about it, they charge an application fee! They charge people that want to come and pay their $17000 tuition $50 to ask if they can give the school $17000. That's either very stupid or very clever. I guess that to the people charging the fees, it's clever.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Clemson is the ultimate college town. The athletics at Clemson are the ultimate reason I chose to attend there. Football games are unbelieveable, Clemson is always one of the top teams in their conference and the town is revered as one of the best atmospheres in the nation during football Saturdays. The school has the perfect number of students, 17,000; this is not too many and not too few. The student body has a tremendous amount of pride about their school, athletic teams, and campus. The campus is one of the best in the nation, many students from other schools often comment on the uniqueness of the campus. Rolling hills, blue skies, perfect weather, mountains in the distance, Lake Hartwell a stone's throw away, Bowman field, and the history of Clemson all make this an amazing place. I enjoyed walking on campus every single day, seeing historic landmarks, breathing in fresh air, and socializing with people just like me. The campus, the learning, the students, the athletics; everything was amazing, there is nothing like it.

Describe the students at your school.

Absolutely amazing. Unique and special group group of people make up this student body.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

These stereotypes are not true. Once you become plugged into the school and meet other students, become involved in extracurricular activities, and become familiar with the area you are apart of a special "click". It is hard to describe but it is a special feeling you cannot get at another institution. The students make up the town of Clemson. During the summer it is a ghost town; but during the fall and spring semesters it is alive. 17,000 students from across the world, nation, and state make this a unique place to learn.

What are the academics like at your school?

The academics were pretty tough. The curriculum's and professors were very rigorous in their teaching. However this has shaped me into a much better person.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Awesome. Great party school but you must make the grade.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Because of Clemson's location, the town and the University are viewed as having "country folks". Many people who have never attended Clemson say there is nothing to do because it is a small town as compared to USC in Columbia.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Clemson is the perfect fit. About 17,000 students is great; large enough to get those big lectures that would be unnecessary to have in a class of 12 (intro to geology and general economics) but small enough to where you get your more difficult classes more individualized in smaller classrooms (advanced accounting, econometrics). Its a great college town with a high affinity for the Clemson Tigers. The whole town participates in campus events. The football games...well i cant even explain the football games on paper, its just that unforgettable thing you have to experience yourself. Clemson's reputation has grown greatly over the past couple of years. Whenever I mention Clemson in a conversation back home in the mid-atlantic the university gets much praise from people for its academics and great sports team. Its the kind of school that you go to and when you leave, you chase down everyone on the highway you see sporting a Clemson Tiger paw; waving and honking your horn annoyingly. The orange is intoxicating.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

To a certain degree, but then again; some of my best friends come from places like California, Texas, Florida and Boston who fit in great.

What are the academics like at your school?

Great. Every class I have had has been extremely approachable and remembered my name after speaking with them. With todays universities, its hard to find a school that offers such a big name with such individualized academic concerns.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Preppy southern upper-middle class students.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Athletics are huge and our sports teams are great, so naturally Clemson students spend a lot of time celebrating. If you do go to Clemson, go greek. Its huge here and you will definitely regret it if you dont.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

The entire Clemson area is completely all about Clemson. I visited many schools in my college search and I can safely say that I did not see any other college with close to the amount of school pride, not only on campus but in the surrouding area as well. Easy evidence of this can be seen in athletics. Clemson has a pretty big student body but not too big that you feel lost.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Amazing school. Student body has a great balance of social life and academics. Sports are unbelievable, especially the football games. Very motivated students and professors that are there for education but at the same time make sure to have fun.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Not quite sure... but sports are indeed a major part of campus life here at Clemson.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Clemson: Clemson is not a very big city but the vast majority of it's inhabitants are college aged students. Due to this there is a dense population of people in your age group if you attend. Football season is electrifying period. The Death valley experience, the extreme noise and our teams entrance down THE HILL (also know as the most exciting 10 seconds in College football) cannot be beaten. School pride and environmental awareness are also important on campus. Yet, the most inviting aspect of the University is the campus itself. There is a certain level of comfort you gather from just being there and once you become an enrolled student you become a part of the community. You immediately feel at home.

Describe the students at your school.

The student body of Clemson can simply be described as friendly. Everyone is unified by our atheletics and the desire to learn. The freshman experience at Clemson is very unique in that it is not difficult to meet people. For an institution with more than 14 thousand undergraduate students the student body is suprisingly close-nit.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Clemson is a great place to recieve a top notch education, meet friends that you will never forget, and it is also a given that you will have a blast!

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

These stereotypes are inaccurate, Clemson has developed an excellent science, math, and enginneering curricula. Also, the Clemson Carolina rivalry is a healthy one there is excess in animosity.

What are the academics like at your school?

Clemson's academics are at a high level and will continue to increase in the coming years. As a part of Clemson's goal to be a top twenty public institution the quality of the professors is also increasing at a rapid rate. The classes can be difficult but there is no doubt in the high level of education that you are recieving.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

One of the most enjoyable Clemson activities is tailgating for football games, this is also done during baseball season in the spring. There are a multitude of opportunities for outdoor activites such as hicking, bikeing, and Lake Hartwell is practically on campus. Greek life is also very active at Clemson. The first week parade always kicks off the year in a good fashion.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

The majority of students attending are Ag. Majors. All Clemson students hate the Carolina Gamecocks.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Watch out Disney, Clemson is the new happiest place on earth where dreams do come true. Welcome to a school with a big school picture with over 300 organizations to join, huge sports to cheer for and so much going on but can also manage to have a small campus feel. Make sure you leave for class with an extra 5-10 minutes because chances are you are going to stop to talk to a few friends that you see on the way. Everyone either plays sports or is a huge sports fan. Clemson has a preppy feel but the university does what it can to encourage individuality. The downtown may seem small but there are some awesome places from Todaro's pizza (yum!) and Spill the Beans icecream. The only problem with the university can be parking, but you really don't even need a car. The town of Clemson revolves around the University and are so respectful to the students. Everyone just has so much school pride and love for where they go. Clemson is 5 minutes from the lake and so cloes to the mountains to go hiking and stuff. Lots of your friends will have boats so you go to the river a lot, even just to swim at the Hidden Beach. I could never say enough good things about Clemson, I love it!

Describe the students at your school.

C-L-E-M-S-O-N! The students are happy, honest and hardworking. We work hard, party harder. The general population is preppy and well off, but there are some exceptions. For the most part students dress decently for class. Sweats are okay but girl sometimes dress nicer like a sundress and rainbows. Students are involved in EVERYTHING. Can't find something you like in the 300+ organizations we have? It is so easy to make your own! If there were four tables in the dining hall there would be... the jocks, the greeks, the future presidents with the MRS degree girls (maybe 20% of the girls at Clemson, most are really motivated and driven though) and then the pre-med/engineering who study all the time and can only eat and run back to the library! Even though we may have those 4 tables, there would be a TON of more tables (hopefully at Harcombe breakfast because it is AMAZING) and you would see a lot of interaction between those tables.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Clemson is the best place ever, it may look like a small town in the country with not much to do, but trust me, you'll never want to leave!

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Clemson students are the happiest you will ever meet. Everyone loves where they are and who they are with. The students either all play sports or are HUGE sport fans. We are all dedicated to our work but know how to play even harder.

What are the academics like at your school?

Clemson once again has a great balance. There are some big classes freshman year like some gen-eds where a lecture may have 130 kids (30 ususally show up). Professors are easily accessed though. Students study a lot but know how to balance their work. Staying in a Thursday night to study is the worst, but you usually do it maybe once a month. The Academic Success Center is really helpful, use it! They offer tutors, study groups, study hints, help you pick a major with tests and then sit you down to review your results, how to study classes, adjustment to college classes, and SO much more.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Get involved! FCA is huge, intramurals are an awesome way to get involved, try something new! I had never shot a gun before and joined shotgun club and became an officer. There is so much to do and try that you have to just throw yourself into it. I lived in Johnstone which is getting torn down (sadly!) and it is definitely an open door dorm. You just walk in and take a nap on your neighbors futon when you are too tired to make it to your dorm. Kids go to the lake and swim, tan, pre-game there or maybe go out on a friends boat. Football games take center seat during the fall. You plan your schedule, classes, everything around the game and tailgates. There are stories of people going to sleep early to wake up at 2 am to start tailgating for a 12:00 game!

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Clemson is the perfect size-not too big, not too small. There are about 16000 students undergrad. which makes for the perfect amount. There's enough that you never stop meeting new people but not too many that it's impossible to see the same person twice on campus. I constantly run into people that I know. There is tons of school pride. I love driving around and seeing people with orange stickers on the back of their cars all over South Carolina but anywhere. If I saw someone wearing a Clemson shirt in the airport or Australia I would feel like they are a brother and start talking to them. There is a sense of family just because one goes there. And football games display peoples' pride as alumni of all ages return to tailgate and watch the games. I love how nice everyone is on campus. Teachers, administration, students. People are truly friendly. And the guy are true southern gentlemen. Something I don't like is that the college town has too many sandwich shops and gross bars instead of cool places to hang out, like restaurants and cuter places. But overall, love it!!!!!!!!!

Describe the students at your school.

I'm really glad with the amount of Christian organizations on campus b/c I'm a Christian. There's so many to choose from and they are all good. I do Campus Crusade and love it. But there are so many other organizations as well. I am an RA and love telling incoming freshmen how many awesome and rare choices they have to choose from- we even have a high five club. I do wish that people of different races mixed more. There does still seem to be a division b/w black and white and that can be clear in the dining hall. People wear different things to class- some get showered and dressed even for 8:00 AM classes, others stay in their sweat pants and sweatshirts all day. Whatever you please. I think there's all financial backgrounds and people do not usually discuss this. I think there's more talk politically now which I like, especially with the elections. I think Clemson is predominitaly more conservative b/c of it's location but there's definitely liberals as well. I wish there were more manifestations but I think that's something missing in young people all over the United States.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

I love Clemson b/c of how well rounded it is. It's academically vigorous, but the students also love to have fun with intramurals and extracurriculars.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

There are all types of students at Clemson. There are some who are into fraternity and sorority life. There are some who are into agriculture and are proud of it. But these are not the only people. There are all types of people. Clemson is not as diverse racially as it could be but it's getting better especially because of students studying abroad from other countries.

What are the academics like at your school?

Well when I tell people I go to Clemson they usually assume I'm really smart. It is a good school academically and it's getting harder to get into, especially for out of state like me. So I like that we are proud of academics. But really once you get in the classes are all different. Some are really hard and some extremely easy. Professors will know your name if you sit on the front row or talk to them. I recommend that even in a class of 200 students. They like it, you get to know a pretty cool professor, and it can help with grades. I recommend visiting their offices as well. Education at Clemson can be geared towards getting a job, but I recommend taking a few classes that are what you are interested in even if you don't want to major in it. Sometimes it's really good to learn just for the sake of learning. Students are competitive. A little too much sometimes. My philosophy is don't worry about the other students and just do your best. But it is good that the competitiveness can sometimes remind us why we are in college...to learn.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Preppy, boys with pink golf shirts and rainbow shoes and girls in dresses. Non diverse (aka all white). Hick school where everyone drives a tractor and talks with an accent.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

I love Clemson b/c you don't have to do a fraternity or sorority to be cool. I rushed but did not pledge b/c there were so many things to choose from I did not want to be tied down to a sorority. And I do not regret my decision at all. I love Campus Crusade for Christ and spend a lot of time with those people, but honestly I have friends in all types of groups. Dating scene... there's a lot of guys and girls almost 50/50 so that's no problem. I love the first week of school when the streets of downtown Clemson close and there is a festival through the streets giving away free stuff, followed by a concert on Bowman field. I love walking, running, or driving by Bowman field on a sunny day and seeing people playing ultimate frisbee or on a rainy night and seeing guys mud sliding. You definitely do not have to drink. I don't drink and I'm not judged for it at all. There are plenty of events like dramas, concerts, and guest speakers... you just have to make the time to go to them. Athletic events are really popular, especially football, basketball, and baseball, but I recommend checking out all of them.
