The Cleveland Institute of Music is very special in that one of the top 5 orchestras in the world is a 15 minute walk from the campus. As a classical musician studying to become an orchestra member one day, it is a huge privilege to hear the Cleveland Orchestra perform every week. Not only am I able to observe and learn from the performances I attend, but I'm also fortunate enough to study with many of the orchestra members at the conservatory. The one on one interaction with great musicians is definitely unique among the great conservatories.

  8. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

  9. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst part of CIM is the academic requirements. I came here to practice and learn my craft, not Sociology 101, or Nutrion 201. There are far too many times where I'm busting it in the practice room all week and then I have to come home and worry about a Human Evolution paper. If we had less academic Case Western Reserve University classes, then I'd be much happy and more relaxed, especially through the most musically stressful weeks.
