Cleveland State University Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Katelyn

For me, the most frustrating thing about my school is the academic couselors who help students find classes they want to take in the next semester. In my experience, I have found that academic counselors at Cleveland State University merely help students fulfill requirements instead of help them find classes that will challenge them and help them discover who they are through their education. Because of this, students are not engaged in their studies and valuable conversations between professors and students are not taking place.

Since I am from out of state my tuition is double!

There are a few, 1 is the amount of students who can't find off campus jobs related to their careers that are non intern. The requirements in order to be qualified for a small campus job when I have 8 years of experience, I think they favor traditional college students more than non- traditional. Since the University is diverse there are a lot of students who come from conservative backgrounds so there may be fewer voices heard around the campus. I think the library should have longer hours such as other colleges..

I THINK THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING ABOUT THE SCHOOL IS THE CONSTRUCTION. I THINK CSU IS A WONDERFUL SCHOOL WITH WONDERFUL OPPURTUNITIES FOR EVERYONE.

Nicole

There is this class that all students must take called ASC 101 which supposedly introduces you to life at a university. However it was the biggest waste of my time, because I didn't learn anything. I hated that class with a burning passion, but it's over now. My only other complaint would be trying to find a place to park. I've seen people get into physical fights after competing for a spot.

The most frustrating thing about my school is the commute. The fastest route to my school is Interstate 90, and this freeway is dangerous during the winter season. The traffic can be very bad, particularly going into Cleveland in the mornings. Parking is obviously part of the commute, and it is difficult to find parking on campus at times. I do not live in Cleveland, so it can be very frustrating to find a particular place in Cleveland.

Patricia

The most frustrating thing about CSU is that it is hard to talk to a person. All call are funneled through the Campus 411 call center.

Walter

The most frustrating thing about school is trying to meet new people and make new friends. A lot of students often huddle together with other people that are of the same ethnicity/race as they are. Whenever I try to attend several social events, the same thing happens again: The people with the same ethnicity/race hanging out with each other. There are times that the best way to meet new people and make new friends is if you're they're neighbor or you're in the same class as they are.

payments include tuition, parking, books, etc. In addition, there are two many general requirements for graduation, and many of the classes' credits exceed what is needed.

James

Not that I know of.

Michael

Parking costs way to much.

Michelle

The most frustrating thing about my school is probably the size of it. Students have to do a lot of walking to get from one class to the other.

Julie

The majority of the student population commutes to campus so it is difficult to make friends. Academic advisement is not particularly helpful, and not enough information is provided to students to help plan courses/ graduation timelines. Sometimes it is difficult to get in contact with administrators.
