What kind of person should not attend this school?

It is rough being a conservative at Colby College. You pretty much have to keep your opinions to yourself or change your views on life completely otherwise you could be a social pariah. It isn't all bad, but it is something to keep in mind.

Gavin

Someone looking for cultural and entertainment activities in the area.

I honestly feel that everyone can feel comfortable and welcomed here at Colby. The professors are intriguing, the food is spectacular (can I mention that Dana dining hall served ribs the other night) and choices are available for all tastes), and the people are simply amazing in their own unique and peculiar way. I might add that if you don't like the cold, small classes, or a close-knit environment, Colby may not be the place for you. Neverthelss, I applied Early Decision for a reason--yeah, Colby is that great.

This is a good question. My college offers a wide variety of interests which is really good for people exploring what they want to do, but if someone was really interested in a specific field (engineering, marine biology, etc.), I would advise them to go to a school that could better cater to that specific interest. Also, if someone is looking for a large college atmosphere complete with fraternities and sororities and also wants to live off-campus, this isn't the school for them. It is small, and there is no greek-life.

Elizabeth

A person who is not academically focused would have a difficult time surviving at this school.
