So far so good! I spoke to an admissions counselor and I am ready to enroll. I can wait to move to Georgia. This survey is based on a visit. I enjoyed the visit to Brunswick, GA. We stayed with a relative that I love a lot. We went out to eat in the area, and checked the school out.

College of Coastal Georgia is a great, close-knit college. Although some might consider it small, there is a group for all interests! The college sports games are usually the highlight of the week, with students and faculty dressing in certain colors to support the team or a cause that the team is supporting, such as breast cancer awareness. The classes can be easy or hard, but no matter what the difficulty, there are SIs for all subjects, and professors are usually very willing to help if you are confused on a subject.

Sylmarie

It is a great place to experience the college life. Everyone is friendly and extremely involved. The classes and professors are great! We have on campus police. Organizational and sports events are happening all the time. I love living on campus and being able to experience how to live on my own with responsibilities.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Continue your education now! Do not take time off, your life will take over. You will continue to say I always have time later to complete college. Once you have a family it is so much more difficult. Your children need you to be a parent, but they also need you to take care of them financially. You need to be an example for those children and show them how important an education is. In today's world you need an education to make it. Things are not cheap and will only continue to grow in price. Take advantage of your youth and vibrance and make something of your life. College is not as difficult as you think, but with added stresses of a family it can seem overwhelming. Don't wait do it now. Don't let "life" get in the way of what you can accomplish, the person you can become, or the example you can be.

  7. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

The unique thing about my school is that it is currently in a state of transistion. Last year was the first year that our school went from being a Community College to a 4 year state college. Going to a college during a transition like this is very exciting, because there are always new opportunites to learn and grow as a student and as a person. Everything is changing and it is all very exciting.

I don't really have anything bad to say about the school itself. It has a really nice campus and the professors are great. I just wish it wasn't in Brunswick, because I find Brunswick to be boring with not much else to do.

  10. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing I have found at this school is that they do not offer graduate programs. I am a non-traditional student who is raising my children on my own so the only option I have afer completion of my bachelors degree is online study. I would much rather be in a traditional classroom, and if my college offered that I would continue my education with them.

  11. What are the academics like at your school?

Most of the classes are far too easy. Many of the part-time professors do not try to challenge students. They are just there to make some extra money. There are a few professors who are very good and are doing their best to make this school stronger academically.

  12. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

When I graduated high school, I had a plan: I wanted to graduate from the University of Georgia with a dual degree in Biology and Psychology, and hopefully a minor in Visual Arts. However, my plans were put on hold when my parents decided that they wanted me to stay at home for the first year and attend the College of Coastal Georgia, a local college. Now that I'm here, I've realized that some of the classes I am taking may not transfer to UGA. Either way, I'm not going to let this keep me from succeeding.

  14. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

One of the popular groups was, till it went away was the Business society and it seemed to go away when the students that ran it graduated. The Business society group went on trips that incorporated the business world. Once they went to Disney in Florida and scheduled a behind the scenes tour. I am not really involved in a group right now but have been in the Business Society when it functioned, Phi Theta Kappa group and just some groups I'd sit with off and on. I'm married and have been for almost 30 years so the dating scene I'm not so sure about. I see guys trying to talk to girls but I feel they are still awkward in their approach. I hear about parties but not too sure about them. For off campus activities there is Jekyll Island which has Summer Waves water park and beaches. They are trying to do some concerts there and graduation is held on the Island at their convention center.

  15. What is your overall opinion of this school?

The best thing about this school is how much assistance they offer their students. However, the campus is fairly small. When I tell my friends that I attend this university they always have a shocked/disgusted look on their face because they know its not school that many people choose because its located in a small town and there's nothing to do. Most of the students complain about the dorm size, wifi, food, and lack of parties. If you're looking for a party school this isn't one of them. These and many other reasons are why I'm transferring to Georgia southern.
