The College of San Mateo has a lot of great resources for its students. In regards to ethnic groups on campus, we have so many communities for different identities such as Filipinx, Pacific Islander, Black & African American, Latinx, Chinese, Japanese, and more associations for international students that attend. Personal Counseling as well as Health and Wellness resources are extremely accessible to students. There are also programs on-campus such as Sparkpoint that work to assist students with issues like food insecurity, housing crises, and tax assistance. The counselors and advisors at the school truly care about their students.

I really have enjoyed CSM. It definitely took some getting used to, but I'm so glad I went there. If you join extracurriculars that you are interested in, communicate with your professors, and put yourself out there, you will definitely have a great experience at CSM. The campus is beautiful, professors are (usually) there for you, and there is definitely an extracurricular activity for everyone:).

Being able to attend college for free is an appealing trait of San Mateo College. It offers a wide variety of classes in many domains, allowing me to explore and expand my horizons. My interests are able to be explored through the ease of access. I also enjoy their online format, which was in place before covid, and allows flexibility in my schedule.

Because of its central location, College of San Mateo is above average for a community college and is in a beautiful location right off highway 92 with very well kept buildings and landscaping. Academics should not be expected to be an easy pass just because of its junior college status. Every single one of my professors I have had has been easily accessible and eager to help. I haven't encountered a single "bad" professor, and better yet they treat their student's as competent adults, not like high schoolers or kids to be babysat. If you are intent on learning, there are great opportunities to be found at CSM.
