College of the Canyons Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Bailey

The worst thing about my school is the bare buildings. Why? Well for starters, young adults obviously need to focus their thoughts on their studies but they can do that just as well with colorful buildings than with plain white ones. The entire campus gives the appearance of units where people may do jail time inside. There is not much color to the campus besides some grass and you just don't see that many people. The campus I think is unnecessarily big for just being a community college; people get lost all the time and most of the time there isn't anyone around you can ask for directions because its not very crowded. People are scattered and don't talk much as they pass by each other. I wish there were more booths set up and that more students would get involved because then I'd feel like I might have a reason to.

There isn't much of a community feel amongst classmates. It is mostly because it is a charter school, so you don't really have the opportunity to form relationships and friendships.

Victoria

The worst thing about this school would be the parking situation. It is sometimes difficult to find parking because there are too many students.

Liliana

I love my school. The counselors and professors are very helpful. However, due to lack of funding course sections were reduced and it is difficult to take all of the courses needed for my major.

Breeanna

I would say that with this economy that we're currently living in,the budget cuts are the students of COC's worst nightmare. Because it makes it very challenging to get into the General Education classes that are at such demands,.Unfortunately due to College of the Canyons current growth, more students are enrolling here to save money because of the low economy.

The worst thing about my school would have to be how the administrative teem feels the need to cut classes yet increase the enrollment by 33{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c}

The only problem I find when talking about my school is the divided campus's. My school is divided into two, which usualy makes it hard to juggle classes for a students who must drive from one end of the canyon to another if their schedule is set up that way. I would also appreciate more classes made available to students, for with a growing population of students, while the school cuts it's budgets, it creates quite a problem. Classes are harder to obtain.

A major negative aspect of College of the Canyons is that since it is the closest community college in the area it is extremely crowded. Going through the registration process of signing up for classes every semester is a nightmare because as you are waiting for your assigned registration date and time to come along, every class you may need is filling up before you even get a chance to register.

Kelly

The parking situation sucks-you need to arrive early to get parking and even then some lots get filled.

Shahrzad

I can't find a bad thing about my school. I have just fun here.

Stephanie

the budget cuts, they are offering less classes because of them. They also aren't even offering some classes that are required for my major this year. I think the school is a little overcrowded and the parking is really bad.

Briana

The fact that COC is a community college and not a four-year institution. They employ some of the hardest working professors and staff, and they have very high educational standards. I really enjoy being there and althought I want to attend a highly-regarded art school, I'd love to stay at my current school.
