It is an amazing starter school to get a feel for college while not amassing a massive amount of debt. There is always help available which makes getting through your classes way easier. The people are there to get their work done so you won't have to worry as much about people pulling you down in work.

Karissa - 12/28/2021

I love this school. The teachers care about their students and seem to truly want them to succeed. I've learned a lot from my classes here. My educational experience here at CWI is much better than my experience at a university so far (it is also 1/3 of the cost).

The College of Western Idaho is a wonderful school that provides a safe, fun, and engaging learning environment for students. The school offers an array of courses that fulfill many different degree requirements. The professors are kind and always willing to help in any way possible. They understand that all students have a life outside of the classroom and are very understanding when that life infringes on the student's academics. The professors are willing to work with students in order to cultivate a healthy balance between school, work, and family. The professors are extremely accessible to students, which makes learning easier and less stressful. They are very knowledgeable about the subjects they teach and profess in a manner in which students can comprehend. The school itself takes the physical safety of students seriously and strives to improve upon student life quite often. Overall, the College of Western Idaho is a fantastic school to attend because of its focus on academics and the safety of their students.

The College of Western Idaho has given me an opportunity that I may not have had elsewhere. It has given me an affordable education that allows me to work at my own pace, but also teaches me how to be responsible and meet deadlines. I am able to do my homework in nearly any environment, from my own home, to the library, and heck, if I can get a Wi-Fi signal there, under a rock. I am being prepared for the real world, and I am going to be pursuing my dream job, to be a sports journalist. Plus, after I have completed my Associates Degree at CWI, I will be able to go to a dedicated four-year anniversary with all of my credits intact. It has saved me thousands of dollars in my education, and all of the faculty and students have been nothing but nice. Overall, my experience at the College of Western Idaho has been one of the most enriching of my life.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I was a very difficult teen. I didn't have plans or goals for my future, and I didn't wanna go to college. If I could go back and tslk to my "younger self", I would tell myself that college is a good option. Getting a degree earlier is easy than waiting til your a little older and have a family and have to work.

  7. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

I consider the minimal programs in theatre to be the worst thing about my school, because I want to get my bachelor's degree in theatre. Because College of Western Idaho hardly has any theatre classes, they are unable to provide a theatre based associate's degree, which means that I have to have one major at CWI, then I'll have to have another when I transfer to my next school to get my bachelor's degree.
