Colorado Christian University Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Anna

I wish I had been told which grants and scholarships programs were worth signing up for. So many will only let you apply if you go to one of the featured schools, are a certain religion, do not support liberal art biblical studies programs or are only for graduate students.

Andrew

That there is no need for fear. I used to worry so much about grades, and doing my best and the worst possible outcome of everything. I have grown in my faith and realize there is no need to worry. I can place trust in my abilities and my work ethic for the things I can control, and trust in Jesus for the things that I cannot. I also wish I had known just how much fear was hindering me from enjoying my life overall. Work is important, but I can smile and realilze that my best is always enough.

Brianna

I have just submitted my application to this school and I have yet to start any classes.

Nathan

Before coming to this school, I wish I knew how much moving expenses would be so that I could work and budget properly and thus, avoiding going into further debt.

Heather

How many options can a school have for education? I can attend classes online, in the classroom, at multiple campuses, and even at different rates. I love that I have this much ability to change it up.

Sam

The only thing I wish I would've known before coming to CCU is the importance of balancing my time. While my freshman RA told me this was very important, I didn't realize how important until I was in the middle of it. Living on campus makes it very easy to be "stretched too thin." Sometimes there are just too important things goin on around campus. While they are all good and beneficial, it is much too stressful to try and do everything. This is something I am still learning. I need to intentionally make time to rest.

Rebecca

I wish I had known how to better manage my homework time in order to complete Monday's assignment in time for Wednesday class, or Tuesday-Thursday. Overall, time management is one of my greatest weaknesses; if I had conquered that in high school, I would have been better prepared for college.

Esther

That the school of music was off-campus.

John

Although I did not realize it at the time, I did exactly what I needed to do to be prepared for college. I know by my experience that Advanced Placement and Honors classes are extremely important. I have only excelled because of these courses. I watch other students struggle through school - they never took AP classes. These courses taught me how to truly write, analyze, and be a good student. They instill a good work ethic. As a result of AP courses, I have been able to do my best and succeed in college.

Veronica

I wish I knew that stressing about projects and due dates is unneccessary. Teachers at Colorado Chirstian work with you, and help you succeed. If you don't understand something, they will work after class until you understand the subject matter. Due dates are important but learning the material is more important. Don't stress, just manage your time carefully!

Katelyn

I wish I would have known how acedemically challenging my major would be, also I would have liked to have been a better manager of my time. There are so many community activities to participate in that I've had to learn how to say no to the things that may distract from my primary goal: to excell in my studies and become the best at my music profession.

Adare

I'm very happy with this school. The only complaint I might make is that I didn't choose to take advantage of the many social events it offers.

Brittani

I wish I did not get so caught up in the hype of the school, and talked more to students about what they really thought of the school. This school is very small and limited in what they have to offer; therefore, they struggle to keep students throughout the four years. While all these facts were known, they slid under the fence quite easily.

Rachel

I wish I would have known to not bum a ride off just anyone, even my roommate, Kaitlin. One epic trip with her was to an off-campus location for our homecoming celebration. The lady’s voice coming from the GPS nagged frantically as Kaitlin defied and turned the opposite ways, yelling, “Rebel against the GPS!” while Becca, her side-kick, egged her on. We gripped handles as we veered around corners and merged onto the interstate. We screamed as she braked to a stop into the last open parking space, miraculously, without broken bones and our heads still attached.

Erika

Before I came to CCU I wish I had known how much more difficult college classes were then high school classes. I wish I had known that it takes a lot more effort and determination to get where you want to be. I took AP and Honors classes in high school, and not even those could prepare me for the work load I was about to encounter.

Susana

What I wish I know before I came was how much of the internet I was going to use for my classes and that the schools tution wold take a coulpe of weeks in to the first semter to go through. So you do have to at least have some money saved for your first class books. Wish I know how helpful and stundent focused the staff and teachers where that would have taken off a lot of the stress.

Jacob

nothing!

Mandi

High school is a personal and educational building experience that I feel for most individuals go through. We seem to loose sight in that or don't realize this until we turn into adults. I understand more so now as an adult how very important education really is and not only to the outside work force but also for personal growth. I have only beenable to take a couple of classes through CCU but I have deeply enjoyed what I have learned and the process.

I think the biggest lesson I learned during my first semester at CCU is that who you surround yourself with really does impact the person that you are. I walked away from my first semester knowing who I wanted to be but not knowing how to become that person. After a summer break I realized that one way to become who I wanted to be was by surrounding myself with people who possess the qualities I admire and wished to attain. I wish I had realied that my first semester...

Cassandra

I wish I had known how budget before going to CCU.

Callie

I knew all that I needed to know before I came.

Edrea

That there would be prayer every day before or after end of class

Ted

How much I would have enjoyed it.

Nathan

I wish I had know how small the school was going to be and how hard it was going to be to make ends meet with how much tuition is.
