CSU has a really chill student body. Of course each college has a different feel. There are a lot of people who are outdoorsy. The average student wears jeans and a t-shirt with tennis shoes. If you plan on wearing Prada and Gucci to school, this school is not for you...go to Boulder. The students are very friendly and open minded.

Classmates depend on what area you are studying at CSU. I find that in the journalism department, they tend to stay in groups and rarely accept others that are not already in their group. In language courses, everyone gets along and will hang out and help each other after class. In sciences classes, they tend to be a lot more driven and focused.

Sahvanna

Most of my classmates were very active and determined people.

Richie

I find that there is not any racial conflicts here at CSU and that religion is a very big topic that many people argue about around campus.

Laura

I think CSU has a pretty good mix of diverse students on campus. There is a sizeable amount of foreign students, as well as other students from different backgrounds and cultures. But the one thing that is not true is that CSU is very ethnically diverse. When you are in high school and researching colleges, most of the promotional materials for CSU will show pictures that include students of many different races. This sort-of "false advertising" can make you believe that CSU is very high in diversity. Yet, it is not. The figures are something like, 75 percent of students are white, and maybe 8 percent African-American, another 8 percent Asian and maybe 4 percent Hispanic. CSU is definitely predominantly white, and always tries to show the community that they are more diverse than they really are. But, I still believe that regardless of race, sex, religion, or cultural upbringing, most students on CSU blend together very well. There is at least one defining nature of CSU students: They all hate those dirty trust-fund hippies down the road in Boulder at CU.

Heather

I feel like CSU is a fairly liberal school. Activities involving different groups and subjects are always being held, and students seem very comfortable with their surroundings.

Cameron

Students are really from everywhere. The campus is mostly white, but we have white hicks, white suburbanites, white upperclass. The black kids seem to group together but have friends of other ethnicities.

Madelyn

there is a fair variety of students at CSU. my experience as a first year student, whoever is in your hall is your main group of friends, regaurdless of where you come from what your ethnicity is or sex.

Greg

There is plenty to engage in here at CSU, anything from religion to sporting events. if you do not participate then you can watch...

Jenna

There are many student clubs and support groups on campus for all types of people! Though the majority of people on campus are white, there is diversity on campus, and our administration focuses on this a lot. Just off of the top of my head, I can think of these diverse support groups/clubs on campus: women's health, GLBT student services, Latino greek chapters, El Centro, Vegetarian club, Campus democrats, Campus republicans, the Peace Alliance, and many more! Most students wear jeans and tee shirts or sweatshirts to class, though there are also some people that like to wear dresses and heels on a semi-daily basis. You will also find people wearing sweats often, especially in the early morning classes! :) Many CSU students are from Colorado, but I have definitely met many people, even in my hall, who are from all across the United States! I don't really know too many international students, however.

Alyssa

I don't think anyone would really feel out of place. Most people on campus are very accepting. The campus is not very diverse and minority groups are very small, but they all seem to be involved in the campus groups together. Most students are from Colorado within a few hours campus. There also seem to be a lot of people from New Mexico, Minnesota, and California.

Lisa

I felt really out of place my first year on campus because I was working full-time to help pay for expenses and nobody on my floor even had a job. They used to ask me why I had to go to work all the time. There was definitely a distance because I didn't have time to go to parties and mess around and they did. Students are very liberal and pretty active. There are many diverse groups on campus. Students usually wear jeans, t-shirts or hoodies, and flip flops or sneakers to class.

Amanda

CSU's student body is diverse. We have students, graduate students and professors from all around the world. We have many student groups for students with different races, religious backgrounds, sexual orientations, interests, etc. We also have Greek life (sororities and fraternities) which is open to anyone who wants to join. A lot of our students come from Colorado but many are from elsewhere.

Ashley

CSU has a very active student body; I never participated, however, because I was busy working and gaining experience to get me into vet school. Most students dress casually for class (more so the further along you go :) Many days, I would roll out of bed, throw on jeans and a sweatshirt and head to class sans any primping.

Ryan

Students on campus are very accepting of almost everyone.

Rhys

The student body is very diverse and up-beat. There is a positive atmosphere on campus and full of life especially in the plaza, the heart of campus.

Dan

I dont think too many feel out of place at CSU, because there are such solid communities. Most students wear casual wear to class.

Dale

I think CSU is good in this area

Abdullah

Religious people here are so friendly
