Fort Collins has been refered to as a drinking town with a college problem, which is true. Over the past few years there have been some serious situations involving students and their drinking habits. Not to take away from the tragic, which directly affected some close freinds, the majority of students keep it some what reasonable and keep it fun. Fort Collins also has the nickname Vanilla City, which is also true. I do think that the area lacks diversity, although CSU is an extremely tolerant place.

Jamie

CSU and the students are sometimes stereotyped as very "party" oriented and there are many group stereotypes within the university, such as, the "artisic" group, "pretty" girls, football players ect...Sometimes the way people think about eachother doesn't differ much from the "high school days." It's all about status.

Kelly

I don't really know any stereotypes at CSU. I suppose that there are some of the normal stereotypes such as jocks, cheerleaders, and so on. I would say that the students living in the academic village are stereotyped alot as the "smart kids" or "geeks", what ever people like to say. People that live in Summit often get called the snoby rich kids. Also people in my major which is fashion merchandising often get stereotyped as stupid and materialistic, so i suppose other majors often get stereotyped. I was told before I came up here that every one at CSU hated Boulder so I guess thats another stereotype.

Megan

Sarah

An increasing stereotype is that we have a lot of hippies in our school.

Blake

My cousin, who is from Arizona, seems to think that CSU and it's students is a big hippie town. I think other stereotypes are we aren't as motivated, educated, or smart compared to other schools. Mainly CU. Some other stereotypes might be our football team sucks, Sonny sucks and we as a school and fans suck.

Kara

-hicks, rednecks

Molly

Stereotypes of CSU students are that we are a bunch of agriculture students who like the outdoors. In fact there are many different majors around campus and there are clubs for everyone. Any interest a student might have is offered by CSU. Another stereotype is thatt CSU lacks diversity in the campus and community itself.

Chris

Generally what I hear now that I work with a large number of CU alums, is that CSU is the state school for those local students that werent accepted into CU. CSU is considered to be a big party school. While CU might be locally known more for drugs and such, rams are known to party.

Kelly

It is a farm school. We have a bad football team. It is a hick town.
