When you step off campus what do you see?

CSU's main campus is basically in the middle of Columbus. One one side is neighborhoods, on the other is restaurants and businesses. You can see the mall, and behind that, the airport when you first get off campus. It's really close the highway, so you can get on going south to South GA or Florida or north to Atlanta or Callaway Gardens. Riverpark campus is aptly named, being next to the Chattahoochee River. There's lots of historic buildings downtown and Carpenters (the Comms building) is right next to Historic Columbus. If you drink Coke, you might be interested in seeing Dr. Pemberton's house and apothecary, where he first invented Coke, on the Historic Columbus tour (it's free). In the next year-and-a-half, Columbus is getting a whitewater course, for kayaking and other water sport, which will be about next door to Riverpark campus. Riverpark is also the center for entertainment in Columbus: it is encircling the RiverCenter for Performing Arts, the historic Springer Opera House (which is haunted - there's a tour!), and not too far from the Civic Center (where our local hockey team, the Cottonmouths, play and where concerts, like Lady Antebellum in March, are held). You can also ice skate at the Civic Center during certain months, also.
