I love going to school at the Community College of Denver. The campus is awesome. I love and adore all of the teachers that I have had. Unfortunately the advising department is lacking. I ended up advising my way through school. The financial aid department can also be incredibly unhelpful.

Community College of Denver on its own isn't a super impressive school but they definitely have a great campus environment and a lot of extracurricular clubs and activities thanks to the fact that the campus is shared with CU Denver and MSU. The classes are fine and many of the teachers do a great job, however.

Victoria

If you want to have the same classes as universities and pay much less, this is the place to go and we still have the university experience on campus. The professors are almost the same that teach at CU Denver and MSU. Being a community college they dont do 4 year majors but sure theyll help you with te transfer agreements they have with several univeristys around the state.

It’s a good institution, the building isn’t the best, but the professors are great. Their main priority is to help you succeed. Have been enrolled in this collage for one year I transfer from Metropolitan State University of Denver, its definitely an upgrade.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Everyone says to make the most of your senior year of high school and live life to the fullest. I don?t disagree with this but I do think there is more to it than that. Having taken a difficult load of classes my senior year, I felt like I was more prepared for the expectations that college held compared to some of my friends that chose to take fewer, easier classes. After finishing three years of college now, I have learned that college is a lot more difficult than high school because no one makes you try; it?s up to you to have the desire to succeed. Maintaining focus and discipline throughout your senior year will help develop good habits that will make it easier to achieve your goals in college without worrying about having to relearn things you would have learned by putting more into your last year of high school. My advice is to take advantage of high school, not just because it?s easier, but because it?s your last chance to have someone to help push you through the difficulties of learning that will make you a better student and person in the end.

the worst thing about my college there is not enough vending machines. In the Confluence building it has 4 floors and the only machines are one the first floor and do not work all the time. Also the school uses higher one to send our student loans to and there is no actual bank. It is all online and such a hassle to use and pay for ATM fees all the time.

The only thing I really find really frustrating is that I have to take high level math classes to get a computer information degree. That is kind of deterring me from continuing toward my degree goal. Not only that, it is a waste of time and money.

  8. What kind of person should not attend this school?

The good thing about attending a Community College is the fact that anyone who wants to attend there can. Every person from every lifestyle can attend and can find a place to fit in. I think that anyone who has a desire to further their education beyond high school could attend here. The only thing that would prevent someone from enjoying an education from Denver's Community College would be the lack of desire to learn and out effort into their work or someone who has found a job, career, or lifestyle that does not involve taking more educational courses.

There is a lot to learn in general. When I decided to start my education with Community College of Denver I was not aware on the accuplacer assessment test. This test is something the colleges do to determine where to place you. There are 3 parts to the test Math, writing and reading also, there is a study guide which you can request which at the time I was unaware of this. So my advice to anyone who starts college I would request the study guide before you take the test.
