Concordia University-Irvine I feel is a very controversial school. There are usually two types of students who have the greatest success here. Those students being scholars who have a faith journey with God and those who are student-athletes. If you're looking to give back and create a relationship with God, this is the school to attend to. I struggled at this school very much. I didn't know too much about God nor did I play sports and because of that, I did receive bad vibes from other students and very few professors. I didn't think it was possible to be an outcast in college but I definitely was. Do not get me wrong, I made amazing friends here and you will ALWAYS find your people wherever you are. The student body was greta and due to the school being smaller than most universities, your friends became a family away from home which pushed me through my two years. However, because most stem classes have God tied into them, I felt I wasn't learning what I wanted to learn.

First off, I should make the disclaimer that this is a Lutheran school and I'm agnostic. That plays a role in classes that involve theology, and the occasional mention of it in other classes. That being said, it's not a required thing to be Lutheran or Christian, and it is interesting to learn about, even if you don't have the same beliefs. Class-wise, the professors are almost always available and most try to make an effort to get to know you *had one that I had freshman year, and then again Jr. year and she still remembered me, how great was that?). The difficulty of the classes themselves depend on the professors, though the professors try to give you enough help and material so you could pass. Rating justification: I would give this school a 3.5 because there are some classes that you have to take, but aren't transferable. Nor can you use AP credit on them or apply them to your major. Additionally, the overall experience is quite average, and it's a little difficult for commuters, though they try to have events for them. That being said, the small class sizes (my largest class must have had about 45 people, while my smallest only had 7) and the fact that even as a pre-med bio student I can graduate a semester early is a huge incentive. There is no competition for classes like there is in much larger schools.

There is nothing bad to say about Concordia. I love everything about this school. If you want to focus on your major and education only then you have opportunities to do just that. IF you want to be heavily involved they allow you to take part in anything you want. Education is the main priority for all of the coaches, staff, faculty, and directors of arts programs. Everyone is aware that you are at college to get an education and learn but they also encourage you to take part in activities to make your time more fun.

Concordia is a great school with a beautiful campus that has a really diverse and friendly student body. Most of the professors tend to be quite understanding and teach really well. It's hard to ever feel alone here, and everyone is almost always reaching out to help. I highly recommend Concordia University to those looking for a college that has zero judgement and tons of opportunities to make lots of long term friends, all while receiving a well structured education.
