What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Alicia

The stereotype of students is that they are rich and preppy. This is partially true, but there are other groups of people here. Also, don't let the large tuition rate scare you away from applying - some people pay that much, but financial takes care of people who need assistance.

Jillian

There is the one overriding stereotype about Conn kids: white, well-off, and tend to be from either within 20 min of Boston, Fairfield county, or Long Island. These kids tend to be Preppy to the bone and definitely show it in their dress, and the demeanor. While these kids seem superficial and not worth anything, getting to know them shows a different side. Most of these kids look alike, but they are very different. A good amount of them are artsy and intelligent. Another big thing is that a lot of students are athletically inclined. About a third of the student body is a member of various varsity athletic teams and even more participate in club level sports. Most students strike me as intelligent and seem to fit into the school, but there are the fair amount of surprises.

Well, the biggest stereotype I've come across is the "Conn girl" and the "Conn guy". The Conn girls are typically upper middle class, who give great importance to their personal appearance on a daily basis. This involves perfect hair and makeup and extremely expensive chic-hipster style. The attitudes to complement this pretty ensemble are not nearly as attractive. Ignorance, superficiality and a lack of kindness cover just a few. Conn girls spend most of their time on easy majors with few upper lever requirements and few course requirements, for that matter. The remaining hours are spent in hot pursuit of the male population which only constitutes 40{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the student body. If a male attends Connecticut College he will most likely fit the bill of the Conn Guy within a year. Due to the ludicrous amounts of attention they receive from the hordes of fawning attractive girls, they quickly adapt to their new environment. Conn Guys rapidly become self involved and begin to exhibit a confidence which would never have been able to develop in the outside world. In their free time they happily take advantage of the sexual opportunities thrown at their feet almost every weekend, using the girls for their own sexual satisfaction and discarding them carelessly the next day. Never the less, the Conn girls continually fail to learn the lesson and eagerly come back for more, only to bemoan their lost opportunities loudly in Harris the next day.
