Connecticut College Top Questions

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Alicia

At Conn, the Honor Code is taken VERY seriously. That is not to say that cheating does not happen, but when it does there are grave consequences and sanctions as determined by a jury of peers (Honor Council). Similarly, there is an air of intolerance for diminished behavior in the residence halls so if you are looking for a place where others are held accountable for their actions Connecticut College is a great place to look.

The best thing about Conn is the people! My friends that I have made are the most wonderful people ever. And most everyone who goes to Conn is a nice person. I love all Conn students even if they aren't in my immediate friend group! The worst thing is the guy:girl ratio being 40:60. That means the guys have most of the control, being able to chose who they want to hook up with with. I think the size of Conn is just right for me. Some people may think it is a little too small, but I don't see anything wrong with it. When I tell people from my high school or similar high schools that I go to Conn they are impressed. Although a lot of people think it is a state school or a community college. Nah uh! It is a NESCAC school and I'm proud to be apart of it! I spend most of my time on campus in Harris, that Conn's main dining hall. My friends and I like to do marathon where we go for breakfast and just stay there as long as possible though lunch just eating whenever we get hungry and seeing all of our friends come through at different times. I think I hold the record of 7 hours straight. But off campus there isn't much happening at all. If you don't have a car it is near impossible to leave. You have to wait around for the camel van that is sometimes late or get too full so you have to wait another 30 minutes to catch it the next time it comes around. Then once you get off campus there is only so much. Paul's Pasta, Jasmine Thai, Two Wives are fave restaurants "near by".

Jillian

Social life in very limited. College is very isolated, and all partying goes on in dorms. Unless you have a car, you're stuck. Also you can't walk out anywhere.

Andrew

Conn College is a GREAT place. Everything from the academics to the professors to the food to the social scene. I am entirely pleased by the culture here on campus. Some people complain and state that there is nothing to do within the the stone walls, but I have had no trouble finding things to do. I think its a great size at 1,800-something kids and I still bump into people that I have never seen, but I have only been here for one semester thus far. When I tell people I go to Connecticut College I usually get two responses. Either a "wow, that's a great school, good for you" line, or the infamous "wow, you guys have a great basketball team." DO NOT be offended by people who confuse Conn and UCONN. It'll happen, and you just have to learn to accept it.

Nicholas

Conn College is the perfect size for those who love personal recognition/attention from professors. All of my professors know my name, and I love the solid academics that can be found here. That being said, I usually have to explain to people where it is exactly that I go to college. Not a lot of people know about Conn, but I feel like more and more are beginning to find out about it, which makes me happy. The school pride found here is unique because we are the only group of students that are capable of getting fired up to root for "the Camels!" But I think the majority of our students love the Camel mascot, and we will definitely show up to cheer for our teams with some friendly reminders (we're not totally devoted to our sports teams above all else). Overall, I'd say that our campus is receptive, friendly, and small enough so that you can have it memorized within a couple of days to a week. As far as the social scene goes: if you don't drink, you're sort of placed into a lower social sphere.

Emily

Overall, Conn is an incredible place. We have about 2,000 kids here, and I think the size is perfect. I like knowing a lot of the people I walk by on campus and I like knowing where people usually sit in the library. And even though it´s a small school, I still manage to meet plenty of new people every weekend. If I were at a bigger school, I think I would feel pretty invisible. Conn is situated in New London, a small city on the coast. While almost all Conn life happens on campus, New London is a cool place to explore. There are a couple cute restaurants and cafés, and there are some awesome vintage/thrift stores. The city also has a music scene and hosts concerts on the water. Some people hit up the bars occasionally in New London, but most parties at Conn occur in the dorms or in the apartments across the street. One thing I like in particular about Conn is how socially and environmentally conscious it is. Almost everybody at Conn cares about the state of world politics and the environment. Lots of students are involved in social action type clubs, and even students who aren´t still remember to turn off their lights and keep themselves informed about world events.

Julia

Conn's small size lets students and professors interact on a more personal level. It's true that you will have more opportunities because close relationships with professors allow you to see possibilities you wouldn't have otherwise known about or considered on your own. I'm a Film and East Asian Studies double major. I thought I was going to have a major and a minor but my then-teacher, now-advisor, told me that some classes would count for both if I had a double major. I love self-scheduled exams! At first I was a little dissappointed that we don't have a reading week like other schools, but then I realized we have more time on breaks because we get out earlier. Also, it's convenient and less stressful to choose which day you wish to complete each exam (and in what order). I need extra time and this school is wonderfully accomodating of special needs. During Finals I was luck enough to have my own room to complete a full exam, and for my other exam I only shared the room with two people so there were little to no distractions. My grades have really improved because I do not test well under pressure.

Kelly

I love the size of Conn because you can recognize so many people but at the same time not know a lot of people...it isn't overwhelming and you aren't just a face. It is right off 95 so we are surrounded by so many restaurants, a mall, the train and ferry to take you anywhere, Boston and NY so close

kyle

conn is a beautiful campus. kids are mostly nice. new london is horrible. it offers nothing. the tuition at conn is seriously outrageous and not worth it. housing sucks and it is hard to get to from out of state.

Brooke

One of the best things about Conn College is the honor code. The administration puts a great deal of trust in their student body. This means that during finals students may self-schedule their own exams, this flexibility actually alleviates so much stress because you can study at your own pace. Another great thing about the school is the small classes and the accessibility of professors. I have never had a professor that i hated or that was not understanding. In fact I have had several wonderful teachers. One thing I would change: the food. It's not horrendous but it could be better, I usually prefer Pizza.

Jamie

Conn has a great reputation in the Northeast among hirers actually in "the know". Merrill Lynch and Aetna both look favorably towards Conn alums. It might be harder to get a job farther away from the East simply because Conn is still a secret. New London is getting better; you just have to put some effort into finding cool places. Music venues, bars, coffee shops, pizza places, and dancing all exist in NL; it just takes some time to find it all... CELS can kiss my flaming ass lips. At least the professors for the most part are great.

Brett

Connecticut College has a view that takes breaths away. It is truly one of the reasons I chose the college. From the top of the green you are able to see the different types of people that attend the college, while still being able to decide on your own what path you are going to take. There is a balence between the athletics and other extracurriculars that makes for a campus-wide involvement in some aspect of the community.

Emma

I have only been at Conn college for one year and I absolutely love it. New London is sort of shabby but definitely has it's jem's if you're willing to look for them. Many of my friends are on sports teams and I think Conn has great school spirit and I am definitely proud to be a camel. The campus is one of my favorite things about Conn and is usually what people comment on when I say that I go to Conn. From the arboretum, to the green, to the view from Blaustein's steps, Conn is truly beautiful. The best thing for me about Conn though is the group of friends I found there and all the people I've met.

Marissa

The best thing about Conn is its students. They're fun and love to get involved in activities on campus, in New London, and wherever they can. We're a small school, but that was something I was looking for, so I can't complain about the size. I know some students wish the school was a little larger, because everyone tends to know everyone else's business. But that never bothered me. The campus social life can be either a lot of fun or really boring. It depends on whether or not you're willing to step outside your comfort zone. It is true that there is a lot of drinking on campus, but no one forces those who don't want to. We're all very happy to meet new people and accommodate their needs. The same goes for New London. If you want to find something to do, you can. There are a lot of great little stores (Flavors of Life!) and coffee shops (Leaf and Bean). When I tell people that I go to Conn, I generally get one of two responses. "UConn?" or "Oh my god, that's a great school!" It all depends on who has heard of it. The school's administration is, well, alright. They've made a lot of mistakes, but try to fix them when they can. The most recent controversy to occupy the students and administration was the introduction to ConnCollConfessional, a website where people can anonymously say whatever they want. It's caused a lot of problems, but only for those who take things too seriously. Conn has a lot of school pride, but there are those who kind of sneer at it. I'm not sure why, maybe they're just bitter they didn't get into an Ivy, but for the most part the students love Conn.

Watts

Conn Coll takes alot of pride in creating a sense of community for its students. Whether it be clubs, organizations, or school funded events, you will always be welcome at any party or any event on the college. A notoriously fun thing about the school (which continues to amaze visitors) are the school funded late night dances and parties which do in fact serve booze to the students and usually make for a sloppier, wilder version of high school dances. Can be fun but can also get old pretty fast. Depending on what your used to the school can be a bit small. If you do something stupid or do sweet M.O's (thats sweet make-outs if your not kosher with Conn lingo) you can bet your drunk ass you will see them the next morning in the dining hall. I would have to say the biggest complaint about the on-campus life is the lack of real communal space. While the school does boast a nice Student Center, several game rooms (pool, ping pong, etc), and a music/opium den called the Barn, students still lack a place to congregate for late night activities.

Kelsey

This is a small school where people know other people's business, so don't expect to have a one-night stand and not have many of your classmates hear about it. The social scene is pretty exclusively on-campus, with dances, movies and lectures commonly offered.

Maegan

Connecticut College is incredible. It is that simple. Conn was my home away from home. During my four years, Connecticut College provided me with the safety, support and guidance I needed to mature into who I am today. I felt comfortable getting involved in new activities, taking new courses, approaching and getting to know new people. I really can't say enough about how amazing this college is. If you are looking for the liberal arts experience, there is no better place to be than Connecticut College.

Eli

It's hard to pinpoint what the best thing about Conn is, because the thing I like the most can be found anywhere; friends. Conn is just like the other NESCAC schools in many ways, there's not much that makes it unique except for its Arboretum (which is wonderful for outdoorsy type people) and its location. The size, composition of the student body and academics are almost identical to Bates, Trinity, Colby and other schools. It attracts a lot of smart kids and conversely many "meatheads," with many different subsections of students. There is a strong "nerdy" contingent, whose presence is made known annually through a campus-wide game of "Humans vs. Zombies," where the nerds run around with nerf guns. There is a very strong "bro" contingent; those who play lacrosse, soccer and hockey. They tend to be the loudest, drunkest and most apolitical students on campus. Many that I have interacted with seem ignorant and rude, especially when I am tabling for the environment or Darfur. Many students are liberal, but there is a disparity between Facebook political orientations and actual activism. However, many students are very progressive and there are constant events and fundraisers for advocacy and awareness groups. The dancer contingent is also strong at Conn, with primarily female dancers attracting many hipsters to their performances. Hipsters are also widespread, and they tend to be more political and will try to outdo each other with better tastes in music and film. Some have egos, but this is definitely one of the more diverse cliques on campus. Because Conn is so small, many of these groups interact and coexist, because they all want to be really popular and "cool." Refer to the "ConnCollConfessional" website, which showcases the more vapid side of Conn in an online confessional. Here all different groups interact anonymously.

Rachel

The best thing about Conn. College is that you are apart of a very closely knit community that will do anything to see you succeed in every aspect of your life. I would say Conn College is a small college and after a while you begin to recognize most faces which can be a good and bad thing. Most people are taken back when I tell them I go to Connecticut College because they know it is considered a miny ivy league school with very strong academics and ask how I like it. The Conn. College Adminisatration is very tough but understanding giving every student a fair chance. The most recent controversy on campus was having our mascot, Hughie the Camel come visit the last day of classes. Yes, if you are a Camel part of the package is an unlimited amount of school pride...how many Camels do you know? The only unusual thing about Conn College is that if you feel Conn is your home that is the only place you want to be because of our great academics, upcoming athletic teams and the welcoming and understanding community that embraces every person for who they are. One experience I will always remember is getting pumped up before an ice hockey game and walking down to Dayton Arena blarring my ipod and dancing my way across the bridge.

Rebecca

Connecticut College is a school with a very good reputation for strong academics. It's pretty small (for example, if you walked into the dining hall alone, you could find several people you know), which some people complain about, but it's also big enough so that there are always new people to meet. I spent a lot of time in New London when I went to Connecticut College, which is "on the up swing." New London has a bad reputation, but this reputation also overlooks the large artist and musician population which creates a very unique atmosphere. It also has amazing restaurants. There was/is a big controversy on campus due to the new "floor governor" position implemented in the dorms. In the past years, there has been one student (senior) in charge of each dorm called the housefellow. The current administration, without the complete consent of the Student Government Association (SGA), implemented the floor governor position, which is basically an RA with a different name. Students are widely against this position, because Conn has prided its lack of babysitter/tattletale-like RAs in the past.

Stephanie

The best thing about Conn College is the close knit community. It is small, and because it's small, you'll find that you get to know professors and students on a much deeper level than you would at a larger college. Professors routinely have students over their houses for dinner or let students babysit their kids because there is such a tight community of people on the campus. The only thing I would change is the accessibility of the world outside of Conn College. The outside community is accessible on foot, sort of. You can walk to downtown New London, but it's much easier to get there if you have a car - as are much of the places outside of school. I spend most of my time on campus in the library. It's right in the center of the campus next to the student union. There's a cafe inside that makes it ideal to chat with people while you do your work.

Jess

I love this school. That really sums it up. Conn. wasn't my first choice, but after the initial shock of going to college, I realized Conn. is the perfect place for me. It's academically challenging, the students, faculty, and administrators are welcoming and helpful, the campus is beautiful, and I don't know what else I could want in a school.

Maddy

Conn is a great school to go to. It's a small campus, so wherever you go it's likely that you'll see someone you know or have met before. On the flip side, it's nearly impossible to avoid someone and your business is everyones business. You'll spend the majority of your time on campus on the weekends, which is not that bad at all because there's always something going on. If you're looking for crazy frat parties and out of control drug binges, Conn is NOT the place for you. We drink on weekends but it's nothing execssive.

Parker

Conn College has an amazing community where you feel accepted. It is a small school but i think it is the perfect size for the size of the campus, they will need to fix housing if more student are admitted. It is in a great location, near the ocean and not too far from Boston or NYC however New London isn't much of a college town. If I am going to leave campus it is usually to go out to dinner in Mystic which is nice. I spent the majority of my time on campus. When I tell people that I go to Conn they react well if they know what Conn College is. Either that or that think I attend UConn. For not being an amazing sports school we have a lot of pride. One of the most frequent complaints is not enough places around campus for students to meet and hang out. Either that, or, that campus safety is going about their job at the wrong angle.

Laura

Overall, people at Conn are very friendly, as a small school there is certainly a sense of community. Set atop a hill overlooking the sound Conn College is the perfect setting for anyone who has ever dreamed of going to a beautiful small New England school. I have always felt safe at Conn. I find that the professors and administration are wonderful and always working to improve things for the student body. As a D3 school athletics are not a priority on everyone's list but most students participate in athletics on some level, and soccer games on the green in the fall always have great attendance. Students often complain that there is only one type of person at Conn, but I have found this to not be true at all, there are an array of extracurricular activities at Conn, and simply by signing up and getting involved one is sure to meet people with similar interests, regardless of what those interests are.

Catherine

Connecticut College is a small school, yet I dont think that I would change this. The only times that I really got frustrated by how small the school was, was during senior year, but then I was done! President Higdon is doing a great job of revamping the school and getting involved. He knows me and my friends by name and knows a fair amount about us, he even has a picture of him with us in his office! He is one of the best things about the school right now. New London doesn't have the greatest reputation, and wasn't the nicest college town. However, the difference in New London between my freshman year (2004) and my senior year (2008) is HUGE. There are tons of great new restaurants along bank street, and a couple really fun bars that students will go too. There is a new Tiki bar that is great to go to once it gets warm out. One huge plus is having the beach right near by. Some of my favorite days at Conn were spent on the beach with a lot of the student body, and maybe a keg or two.

beth

they are investing a boat load of money into facilities. more country-clubification if you ask me.

Peter

The Campus is the most beautiful in the world. Seriously. Shared governance here is also unbelievable. Floralia is the world's greatest party. The school is pretty small and its nice in that you know most students, faculty, and staff, but there is also a pretty big rumor mill and ConnCollConfessional is horrible. A lot of people think I go to UConn. The campus is trapped between two roads and its hard ot get off campus. The party in the basement of the library last month was awesome.

Cameron

Conn is great because it is a small school where everyone knows each other. However, that means that it's harder to avoid someone you don't want to talk to. It's unfortunate that we can't afford any big-name music acts like other, larger schools do. It's a quick drive to the center of New London but a long walk. There's not a lot in the town offered for the students, but there's still plenty to do to have fun. We're not very admired by the town, and there have been some problems between the town and the campus community.

Harper

The thing I like the most about Conn is the Honor code and how students are given a lot of responsibilities and allowed to run their own lives. Administrators take a back seat and the Student Government is very prevalent on campus. I would change the location of the school, just because I wanted a college in a huge city, but New London is okay. It has restaurants and bars and other things to do. I like the size of the school, but I wanted a small school. Students do watch a lot of games on the green and there is a lot of activity during big school events, like camelympics and floralia.

logan

conncoll is a small campus but that doesn't that it's not lively. since new london is a little farther than walking distance, we find plenty of stuff to do right on campus. there's never a weekend that there's nothing going on.

Chelsea

Conn is just the right size...even though there are only 2000 undergrads, the campus is open and spread out, so it never feels small. i still meet new people every weekend. We dont really have a college town, so its kinda tricky to get off campus unless you have a car, but it's not impossible. We have a van service that runs on weekends and next year we are getting Zipcars. President higdon is awsome! he has the students' best interests at heart and he's putting all his goals into action. i am so happy here!!

Katelyn

The school is beautiful, and you can find just about anything you want to do here. There are always events going on on-campus, both during the week and on the weekends. I don't feel that students take advantage of New London and the surrounding towns, though. Without a car, it is not exactly easy to get around. The Camel Van runs every weekend, but is not always reliable. However, my advice would be to get out and eat at some of the restaurants, go to the Garde Arts Center, or have coffee at one of the coffee shops. The campus itself is not that big so if you don't get off campus very often, you can feel trapped. The administration is wonderful, especially our president. I was amazed when he came up to me during orientation and started asking me about which desserts. Everyone knows who he is (there are even shirts that say "I Love Big Hig"). The administration, like all the professors, is very approachable and helpful.

Lane

Connecticut College is sometimes refered to as Camp Conn. Most of the students are happy to be here and enjoy the friends they have made here. There are many small classes which creates close interaction with faculty and other students. You have to want a small school and a campus to like being here, if you dont want that dont come. One thing i would change would be the male to female ratio. It is currently 38:62 and i think it would be better if it was closer to 50:50. People who know what Conn College is are impressed by the name however a lot of people confuse it with UConn. The social life is mostly just on campus. The beach is a popular location when the weather allows which isnt that often. A car is basically necessary to leave campus. The administation puts a lot of emphasis on student opinions. There is an increasing amount of school pride. I have a lot of fun and have gotten a lot smarter at Conn Coll and thats what I will remember. There are a lot of amazing people that I have met at Connecticut College.

John

Conn is the quintessential small liberal arts college. The campus is gorgeous (especially in the fall and spring), and everything is within a five- or ten-minute walk of everything else. The school sounds small on paper, with an enrollment of less that 2,000 students, but when you get here it feels just right. The location of the dorms separates the campus into three general areas - South Campus, Central Campus, and North Campus. You get to know most of the people in whichever part of campus you live in, making the school community feel more close-knit. As for everyone else, the general rule is that everyone is connected by two degrees or fewer. I know most of the people I pass walking to class, to the student center, or in the library. Whether we've had a class together, live in the same dorm, met at a party, or simply have a mutual friend, there's always a reason to say "Hey!" In the same vein, most people are eager to introduce you to friends they think you might get along with, and meeting people with your interests is relatively easy. Because Connecticut College is so small, another advantage that students have is the relative lack of red tape when it comes to the administration. I had a question to ask the Dean of Freshmen, so I went to her office and we had a conversation. Additionally, registering for a class that's over-enrolled can be as simple as talking to the professor in person and asking him or her to let you into the class. The administration is really interactive, and students play an enormous role in school policies. Just this year, the Student Government Association (SGA) convinced the administration to adopt several changes to school policy solely on the basis of student interest. If I could change anything about Conn, I would relocate it to within walking distance of a small town. If you have a car, you don't have to drive very far to reach civilization, but one of my biggest frustrations about the school is the "Conn Bubble" -- that is, it feels removed from the outside world. Downtown New London has a few stores and restaurants that are well worth going to, including a great Salvation Army; Waterford is right next door and has a mall, some big department stores, and a few chain restaurants; and Mystic and Mystic Seaport, which both have good shopping and restaurants, including the famous Mystic Pizza.

Kate

Conn is great! One thing I always notice is how many students wear "Conn" attire like sweatshirts and t-shirts that say Conn on them. We are very proud of being camels and like to show it. For me, the college is a great size too, under 2000 students but big enough that i do meet new people if not every day but every other day. When i tell people that i go to Connecticut College almost everyone thinks i got to Uconn which gets EXTREMELY annoying because Connecticut College is SUCH a better school than Uconn! But people who are well-educated know Conn. Something that is unusual about Conn college is that it offers free music lessons for credit! Due to an endowment, students can take any type of music lesson for no charge. I take lessons on both violin and viola with an awesome teacher! I spend most of my time on campus either in class, the library, my room or the student center. During swim season (I'm on the varsity swim team from November to February) i spent most of my time in the pool and the library.

Meghan

Conn College is a decent size so that you will always be able to find somebody to hang out with, but you won't get lost in the crowd. Classes are not too challenging, but are still interesting. A lot of people like to hang out at Cro, the student center. The dances here are really fun and are something to do on the weekends. Sometimes it is hard to find things to do off campus or a way to get off campus.

Tara

I like that Conn is a small school because I can make closer relationships with friends and teachers. When I tell people I go to Conn College, they usually confuse it with UCONN. (It's not the same school!) There is a town in New London, but it's not within walking distance of the school. If you want to go into town, there is a taxi service on the weekdays and a free "Camel Van" service on the weekends. Our most recent controversy was a website called "conncollconfessional.com" where people spread rumors and make weird confessions. Our dean said it offended people but didn't force the website to shut down. We have an "Honor Code" that encourages people not to cheat or break other rules on campus. However, I think too many people take advantage of it.

David

The best thing about Conn College is the approachability of everybody. Teachers and other students are hardly ever too busy or too cool to talk to you for a few minutes. You could sit next to a complete stranger in the dining hall and talk to them for twenty minutes, learning about their interests. But if I could change one thing on campus, I would want more activities for students who do not drink.

Colleen

The best thing about Conn Coll is the academic programs. The professors are dedicated, fair, and flexible. The classes are really interesting, but the course selection is small and some departments are smaller than others. -I wouldn't change just one thing, a lot of change is needed. There needs to be more diversity, more apartment style living, and more to do on campus on the weekend than just dances. -I think the schools is too small, but I came from a large high school. You feel like you know everyone on this campus by second semester of your freshman year, and due to this it becomes a very gossipy campus. - Most people don't know what Conn Coll is, but the ones who do are impressed with its academics. New London is not a college town, but our school needs to do a better job in becoming involved in the community. -There is not a lot of school pride even though a lot of students do sports. We do not have a football or baseball team, no frats/sororities.

Jeff

Conn's not bad the first two years. But then the scene starts to get old. But that is countered with the thought of getting out of there. So it balances out.

jasmine

THis school is too small. I think if it doubled in size it would be a nice sized school. However, the faculty to student ratio is nice and that's something that's definitely highlighted at my school. Students definitely need to drink less as well, because i feel alcoholism is a big thing at this school. I also wish we were closer to a town area, that we didn't have to rely on transportation to get to downtown new london. However, the campus is gorogeous, and i guess with it being somewhat far from the town it keeps its campus feel to it. I feel right now that the administration at my school is disorganized, mainly because many changes are as of right now being put into place.

Jeff

Everyone at conn is very friendly and happy. People are always smiling, nomatter what they are doing.

Maria

Conn is one of the friendliest colleges on the east coast. The student body was certainly one of the biggest pulls for me when choosing the right school. At Conn, we have a tight network between students and everyone knows everyone else in some capacity. Not only is our school small in size, but students are invested in one another and they form connections within the classroom, sports teams and clubs. WE dont live right next to a big city, so kids tend to centralize their social lives around campus events. Yes, you'll find the typical weekend parties with drinking, etc., but most of the social life is created with the incentive of hanging out with friends. Sometimes I feel like I am living in the "Conn bubble", but I would have it no other way. Never again in my life will I have the opportunity to live in a fun, academic environment with people who are doing the exact same thing as me. I think it only fosters a more cohesive community and stronger academics.

Christopher

An amazing small liberal arts school where one can really explore all facits of college life in search of discovering what they want to do after college. Their are so many oppurtunities here for people to be involved in all aspects of the daily life and the faculty and administration are so supportive.

Olivia

a little small - everyone knows everyone's business, not many new people to meet on the weekends etc; isolated and sheltered - difficult to get off campus if you don't have a car and not the best college town except for the beach close by, near to amtrak/greyhound, good restaurants; similar to my hometown in that everyone is upper middle class and there is not a lot of diversity; nice people and friendly, intelligent professors; beautiful campus with arboretum; school spirit - a lot of people go to athletic events; nice dormitories; best thing about conn is the friends i've made here and the opportunities presented to me for later in life

Peter

The Best thing about conn is the campus. When it is not too cold for my Mid Atlantic blood it is a beautiful place with sprawling greens and is kept very nicely. I would change the cost of Connecticut College if I could first and foremost and second the town. New London is an almost dead town with very little opportunity for college students.

kevin

For me, this size of school is just right and the location is perfect. When I tell people that I am from Conn College, they think that I mean UConn which is completely different. I spend most of my time on campus and I think that the administration is very good here at Conn. There is a lot of school pride and we are all very proud of our athletic teams. An unusual thing about Conn is that there is no football team or baseball team.

Our school is what you make of it. Because we have a lot of money, we have lots of opportunities. As long as students take advantage of the opportunities, they will like the school. But if they don't they will just be apathetic and unhappy.

Conn is a great size! I love that we are a close-nit community but that there are lots of students that I have never met before. I meet new people at all the events I go to and clubs I join but never feel like I am wandering around in a sea of strangers on campus. It is great to bump into friends on my way to class or in the dining hall. Our college president is the man! President Higdon just came here last year and has already done a great job of meeting students, faculty, and staff and finding out what our priorities for the campus are. With renovations of dorms, classrooms, and the gym under way he is also raising money to fund the continued betterment of the campus. The camel is our mascot... which is unique and AWESOME!
