What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year at Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art?

Beware of the hand sanitizer dispensers. Being at the center of New York City, Cooper Union was hit hard by the outbreak of H1N1 virus. To promote hand washing and general hygiene, the administration setup portable dispensers of alcohol-based hand sanitizer in the hallways at the beginning of this year. However, those dispensers became an excuse for students to not wash their hands at all, causing the flu to spread like wildfire throughout the small student body. Oops.

That this is a 4-year engineering boot-camp with no flexibility. I would have gone to a school where I could have taken an extra year and really learned. Now I am in a master's program for Solar Energy Eng. I'm at the absolute top of my class, my professors like me & appreciate the hard work I put in. I have an opportunity to go to Peru & build a solar home. THIS is a real school. I finally know what it is like to go to a school where learning, & students' well-being, is the top priority.
