What is your overall opinion of this school?

Cornell is the best school to go to! I love the One Course at a Time academic calender, so we basically only take one class at a time! We have a 4 day break every time we finish a class. The courses and professors are great.

Cornell is great! The campus is small, which is great during the crazy long, crazy cold winters! Everyone here is really nice and outgoing.

I really enjoy coming here. I've made great friends and have attended amazing classes. There are many opportunities here that wouldn't be available any other school. Because of the Block Plan, you can do anything for a month and have it not affect anything but the one class you're taking. There are many classes that travel for a month. Last year I spent a month in France and I have friends this year who are going to Costa Rica or the Bahamas or Chile. The block system also lets you commit yourself completely to a class for 18 days of actual class. The best way I ever heard it put is that if you love the class you have 18 days to just delve in and enjoy it. If you don;t like the class, it's only 18 days. Another great thing are the block breaks in between the blocks when everyone relaxes and haves fun. Some people go home, some people sleep, some people go on trips to Chicago, and some people party. You can do anything. One problem though is that Cornell is in a tiny town in Iowa. Nothing is open past 10 o'clock at night, except for the bars. If you want to go to a restaurant or go shopping you need to go to Iowa City or Cedar Rapids which are both just 20 minutes away.

The size of the school is perfect (1200), though socially it can feel small if you restrict yourself to hanging out only with those in your main social group. People tend to spend their most of their time on campus hanging out in the dorms, but you'll always see people in commons and the library. The town is tiny, basically just a main street, but it has some really cool shops and restaurants. It's 20 minutes to the nearest walmart and to anything open after 10 pm, so a car is really awesome to have. Cornell is the kind of school where a lot of people go to games, and there's a sizable audience at most performing arts events.
